I always defended Mike Shannon as "our geriatric drunk" but I've just never warmed to Mitch. And I feel like he's gotten worse as he's fallen in love with his own celebrity and some of his 'pet calls'.

To his credit, you can never EVER doubt his enthusiasm or his sincerity. Watching him do those calls on video is hilarious. He lives and dies with the team the same as we do.

But he is a bit of a cornball and he's just an okay broadcaster.

I'd argue that his sincerity and genuine love for the Chiefs is exactly what makes him one of the best broadcasters in the NFL.

Omenihu or Danna vs. Williams just feels like you're multiplying by zero. I loved the way he was coming along and yeah, you could've put him out there at LE when Jones kicks inside to torture that shitty RT of theirs - hate missing on that.

But at least we lost a guy at a position that may have been cancelled out by Silverback anyway. That's as close to a silver lining as I can find there.

That's a valid and interesting way to look at that. I did hear somewhere that Trent has given up 9 sacks this season though? Maybe I heard that wrong.

Edit: Just tried to look that up and did find he only gave up 4 pressure the last 7 games so yea he is at peak form.

I've always liked Mitch but he does say some incredibly weird shit on his broadcasts but that's why I love him. His broadcast style is very elder millennial humor coded.

Like if you liked Tim and Eric you'll probably like Mitch and I mean that as a compliment

Like he's screaming about the sweet nectar of the endzone and I'm like what the **** is this man talking about I love him

What do you bring him back as though? Nagy back to QBs? Do you just offer the RB coach to EB?

I’m fine with him coming back but I’m not sure if he would take less than OC.

Demote Embree from WR coach into a different role. Put Bieniemy in the WR coaching job to have a drill sergeant approach on route-running, catching the ball, and lining up correctly.

The sweet nectar and his completely contrived "Put the hammer down" stuff is just too much for me. I don't mind Mitch but he has so many eye roll moments that it makes him difficult to take seriously.

Andy trolling the 49ers and Raiders lol

Haven't seen this tweet specifically posted yet:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Eric Bieniemy was in the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/chiefs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#chiefs</a> meetings before the AFC title game and spent some time with some offensive players. Some players have said they’ve missed EB. Nice to see him spend some time with them.</p>&mdash; James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) <a href="https://twitter.com/JamesPalmerTV/status/1755263035474911734?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 7, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Bet the players felt a lot like us when pugs came back.

GARGLING!

I have not been impressed by Kittle this year. He's still a good player but has a tendency to disappear for long stretches.

Listen to ANY other team's announcers...Mitch is a man among boys. You could say it's a low bar, but damn, he's heads and shoulders above the rest, who sound like they should be doing arena league or some shit.

That and the “Sweet nectar of the end zone”, or something along those lines.

He is. But that “deal with the Chiefs” line shoulda been a one time thing.
