Why? KU had had several flashes of good play and decent teams. Basketball never has any down years.

I don't know about that. It wouldn't be if you're doing it in March when most of the country starts noticing college basketball. Except for twice in any of our lifetimes, their season has ended with a loss like most other teams' did.

Early Saturday morning, Green-Beckham’s booking photo and information were initially on the Greene County Sheriff’s website under the listing of offenders who were in custody. Green-Beckham was booked for alleged felony distribution, delivery, manufacture or production of a controlled substance. John W. McDaniel, 22, and Patrick Prouty, 20, were also arrested with Green-Beckham, police told the Springfield News Leader.

Green-Beckham was released and has not yet been charged with a crime.

The release “probably means he wasn’t involved with what they thought he was involved in,” a Greene County jail representative told The Maneater, Mizzou’s student newspaper.

This is Green-Beckham’s second run-in with police for drug activity. In October 2012, he and two teammates were arrested in Columbia outside of Memorial Stadium on suspicion of marijuana possession. Green-Beckham and receiver Levi Copelin later pleaded guilty to amended city violations of trespassing. Both players, along with former linebacker Torey Boozer, who later quit the team, were suspended for the next game.

Missouri athletic department spokesman Chad Moller said the school is aware of the arrest and learning more about the situation.

According to Mizzou athletic department policy, an athlete who is charged with a felony is suspended from all team activities until the case is resolved. A felony conviction means automatic dismissal.

Green-Beckham, who played at Hillcrest High School in Springfield, is coming off a breakout sophomore season as he led the Tigers with 59 catches and 12 touchdown receptions to go along with 883 yards.
