Wouldn't be a bad idea, but no. I would be willing to bet Luke gave her his green saber before she left Ach-To. Luke knew he was never going to use it again before she left.

the type of lightsaber she builds will have no where near the buildup JJ made for Snoke's backstory and Rey's parentage.

You are not remembering this sequence correctly at all. Finn never intervenes...she kicks their ass and then BB-8 sees Finn, recognizes Poe's jacket, and tells Rey Finn is a thief. She then proceeds to run him down and beat the crap out of him with her staff.

You need to watch it again. You are remebering it wrong. She kicks their ass and Finn kinda stands there dumbfounded at what a bad ass she is.

Saw it today. There's a really good movie inside The Last Jedi, and it stars Adam Driver. Unfortunately, it's surrounded by crap, including perhaps the most embarrassing scene in Star Wars history.
