From what I've seen, Clayton is not a journalist. He's a columnist. There's a HUGE difference. Not saying one is better than the other, just that it's not accurate to describe him as a journalist.

Well, technically speaking, he's being paid for his writing. That makes him a columnist.

That doesn't make any judgment on the quality of the work.
