I spent ALL day skiing thru two feet of fresh powder... dang I'm exhausted..... and I'll be back on the slopes in the morning.

Did you get to go an your ski trip?

I didn't go out of state - since the base was locked down most of Friday (due to weather).... but the snow is great here in the Hills.

No kidding - they have $2 happy hour there... and I'm getting along good with some of the ski instructors & patrol guys - so "closing time" doesn't apply to me. :D

I tried snowboarding once. It was a disaster.....complete lack of coordination combined with fear of heights and dislike of being cold....

There was pain, lots of pain.

Yeah... there's a hell of alot of trees out there too.

My only crash for the day wasn't even my fault! I came up over this hill (on a fairly narrow part of one of the trails) - and there were 6 or 7 people sitting/standing on the damn trail. Most of them were snowboarders. So in attempting to edge by them, my right ski caught massive amounts of powder along the trail and BAM I went face down. Luckily - right into the powder. :shake:

Pretty much what I thought while I was taking my skis off to crawl out of the powder that was up around my knees.

That would have made sense. Very little I do makes sense. I figured if I didn't try it then I never would. I don't regret trying it, but it did hurt...ALOT. I've still never been skiing. We went on a trip in high school, but I hung out in the lodge. The whole not liking heights or cold thing got me.

I'm stubborn. I thought eventually I might win. :banghead: I was wrong and walked (limped?) away with the bruises to prove it.

My first attempt resulted in a cracked hip (damn log snow fence) - but that was MANY years ago.... tried it again the following season - but couldn't get over the whole "lack of control" thing. So then I didn't bother with it again until 2004.

Had a blast (even though I could've qualified for the "Agony of Defeat" videos). Last season and this season I'm all about turning/speed control and being able to stop when I want to. LOL I'm doing ALOT better.

There were a couple kids coming along the trail behind me. So when I got my skis back on (that crowd had taken off), I dropped down into the bowl and blew by all of them.

I skiied a dozen times or so last season and have skied ALOT more than that this season.

I think I'll stick with golf. I'm bad at it, but at least I don't roll down any hills. :p

I haven't yet been able to get into college hoops this year, which is a shame since the season is reaching the wind down stages.

plus you can get drunk and go offroading in the golf carts

I've watched more this year than in the past, mostly cause there is a sports bar next door to my work

LOL Joie - the only time I had fun on a golf course, was when I was driving the beer cart for a tournament. (my co-pilot showed up with a brown paper lunch sack filled with mini whiskey bottles!!)

hehe.. .I've gotten to the point that my skis & laptop head off the list of things to pack when I go on winter road trips.

I even went to Great Bear when I was in S.Falls a few weeks ago. (Mr Kotter & kids even witnessed my skiing expertise!)
