But he’s not as young and nowhere near as cheap as Brown. Hell, he’s probably not as ‘safe’ given the injuries.

He’s not worth what Brown was worth at all.

I’d probably give them a 3 this year and conditional 2 next year based on snaps played.

LOL at the thought of them knowing anything…esp. Lance, guy is a ****ing idiot and a douchebag.

It’s their hopes and wishes, wanted Mathieu to stay…

One entertaining thing about FA so far has been all the idiots on Twitter that pose as INSIDERS made to look dumb as shit…

46th pick.

30th pick and a 4th next year for Hunter and the 46th pick.

I cannot understand any of you that are minimizing how bad this has gone over the past week.

I think most rational people knew we didn’t have a boatload of money to spend. The AFC as a whole getting better does suck, especially the AFC West, but we were way farther ahead of those teams in the first place.

Honestly the most disappointing thing for me is not keeping Ward. I’d feel so much better if we had kept him.

I’d rather do that.

Because I do think there’s gonna be a pretty big drop off between 30 and say 45.

The Franchise 03-16-2022 06:26 PM

The thing about Hunter is he’s going to want a new deal before he plays a snap for us.

Don’t think I’d include the 4th. They’re up shits creek with this bonus and he’s not cooperating at all. And frankly we’ll find ourselves in a very similar boat.

That drop is the equivalent of a middle third. I think that’s about fair.

And we’d have about 20 minutes to get it figured out before that roster bonus detonates the cap.

And his agent would absolutely know that.

There are some real land mines here that make him quite a bit less valuable than Brown was. Orlando really was zero risk. Hunter could go very very badly. Frank Clark badly.

Fair enough.

Hunter is Clark 2.0 IMO. No way I’m trading for him unless we get a steal in value.

Hard thought to shake, isn’t it?

That said, Clark was never anything approaching the player Hunter as in ‘18 and ‘19 (and yes, I did say this in real time).

When Clark decline he became this piece of shit. If Hunter has declined he’s probably the version of Clark that Seattle had at his best.

It’s tough to overstate how badly Veach missed on Clark. Even before the injury issues, he was simply never the caliber of player he was sold as.

Hunter, OTOH, was that great once.

I think we have a passionate fan base that's been spoiled with a GM who's usually been aggressive but with Mahomes number continously going up and elite talent having to be resigned almost every year things were bound to catch up a bit. It was bound to happen at some point and how spoiled we are really. I mean we're still probably going to win double digit games, make the playoffs and with Reid/Mahomes anything is possible in the post season

Veach said at the Combine that the Chiefs were likely going to address defensive line more in the draft than in free agency, so not sure why people are saying Veach's plan is failing by not signing the big name free agent pass rushers:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I asked Chiefs GM Brett Veach two weeks ago at the NFL Combine on his approach to address DL:<br><br>“It’s a little bit tricky, we don’t have a ton of (cap) space,” he said. “But I kind of like where the depth of this draft is, and I think we’ll have some opportunities.”<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Patience?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Patience</a></p>&mdash; Herbie Teope (@HerbieTeope) <a href="https://twitter.com/HerbieTeope/status/1504202225299734530?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 16, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
