The strange thing is that the same thing happened with doughnuts. I figured that I would crave doughnuts occasionally, but I don't need them at all. |

We'd like to thank everyone for participating in patteeu's "leaving forever" thread.
Here’s the story: patteeu had a terminal illness and knew that his remaining time was short. He joked with a few of us who knew him about how it would be funny to post a "leaving forever" thread once he could no longer post. After he passed away, we thought it would be a nice tribute to give him that wish, so we impersonated him as a one-time thing to make this thread. We apologize for the temporary subterfuge, but wanted to give him a grand and sincere 1,000 post departure to push his Viking ship from the shore. Thanks for making it a great one! It was a perfect “leaving forever” thread. We'll post a traditional RIP thread now, and salute an all-time great poster and person. I'm going to miss you, patteeu. |
Sad

Jesus, he died. I'm a dick, I thought it was more of the usual drama around here. Sad deal. My condolences to his friends and family.

Wow. You guys did a great job impersonating his style. I really thought it was him. Rest In Peace, Patteau. You will be missed. |

Wow. You guys. This might be the most epic thing ever on CP. God Bless Pat...
|
I don't find it epic at all.
I find it extremely sad. Social media isn't social. It's virtual. RIP, brother. Thankful I had the good fortune of meeting you in person. |

Sorry to lose a guy like this from our board. I admire his bravery and humor in the face of terrible illness.
We will all lose our charms in the end. God Speed Patteeu. Hope things are better now that you've broken through to the other side. |
With those who had been in the know about his illness posting earlier in the thread I wondered if he was in hospice.
I think Pat would have loved the energy of this thread, and the first pages really are a tribute to his contribution and impact of this forum. RIP threads are unfortunately becoming all too common around here, but I do appreciate that this one had a different, and fun energy that will stand as a remembrance to a titan of a poster in this place. RIP, Pat. |
RIP my guy

He hasn't posted since the 20th of January. I admire his handling his sickness with grace. I'm really sad he lost his wife. She was at the tailgate, too. I just wish I could've been there for him in some fashion. This feels like when my step dad died. Diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, died seven days later. No funeral, no service.. Just gone. |
Well done, patteeu. RIP
|
Sigh.

He was adamant that he didn't want people to know about the health issues. You have to respect his wishes. |

Well played, Sir. RIP patteeu.
|
It was a good tribute.
Perhaps he and Logical are sitting on a cloud arguing about the draft and the color of the sky. :D |
Damn, this is sad .
My father ,93 , had a stroke two days ago and doesn't have many days left. I'm leaving tomorrow for Fort Smith to say goodbye. |
Oh my. My condolences to the family. RIP
|
Excellent work.
It never occurred to me that the words weren’t his. |
That was a truly epic way to go out. It's really touching that he cared so much about Chiefsplanet to do this. RIP Patteau.
|
Damn. We lost another good one.
|
I just skimmed this thread when first posted. I just thought it was another drama thread and I usually try to avoid that stuff these days. And as I recall, he mostly posted in DC. Nonetheless, patteau was a long time, respected CP member. RIP, Pat.
|
Does anyone know how old he was and when he actually passed?
Edit: his profile says he was 57. |
