They ruined WR discussions when Alex Smith went a full season without a WR TD.

They ruined offensive line discussions because Smith was took so many intentional sacks.

They ruined coaching discussions because Smith would constantly throw checkdowns or at least short of the sticks on 3rd downs.

If a dozen 49er fans had come here saying, "hey Smith is what he is, but we like hims so we are going to hang here too and get in on the discussion" all would have been fine. Especially if you said "hey weren't not Chiefs fans but we are harmless". Instead, the worst offenders here became flaming transparent hypocrites trying to convince everybody here they were suddenly die hard Chiefs fans and would remain so long after Alex left. It was laughable how transparently juvenile it was.

Instead of a dozen"fans" you had a dozen loud, rude, obnoxious, insistent, persistent "advocates" repetitively hammering their same extreme opinions into every thread, over and over ad nauseum.

It was not just a few Niner fans coming here to be cool about following Alex Smith. It was a clan of starry eyed Acolytes trying to convince everybody else on this forum that Alex Smith was more than what he was, and doing it in a very aggravating way that alienated everybody here to the jerks doing it.

So you need a safe space too? WTF is wrong with you guys, sand in your vaginas?

The more I read about this trade the more I am impressed that the Chiefs front office made a bold move that doesn't have a hint of a fecal odor. Every time we did a deal this big, I always saw us getting ****ed in the long run. But Alex needed to go and I am astonished they actually got it done. I thought for sure they, Reid, would hold on to him like a kid holds onto his blankie...

I wrongly predicted he would be here next year but we need a great backup QB as Tyler Bray IMHO isn't going to cut it if we need him.

I didn't think that Andy would put his big boy panties on and wisk Smith away so quickly.
And heres to Veach for being a baller and taking a third and back dooring them for Fuller. I feel we got a #1 pick or more out of the deal. Now it has to close with no Tigger and Claynus bullshit.

I hope Fuller is excited to be coming to the Chiefs and to possibly have a long term gig in KC. He and Barry with be forces to be dealt with.

Lets see what Veach has up his sleeve come the middle of march as he certainly has become a hell of a poker player. If we play our cards right we could be set before free agency and just fortify the team using lots of cash to spend on others teams bad situations.

I am not a KC Chiefs fan. I could give a shit if you ruin their forum. But I am betting they care very much if you ruin their forum, and you guys did.

Guess what, you aren't the first and you won't be the last. You are just the latest.

Here, I will spell it out in PLAIN ENGLISH and type s-l-o-w-l-y so you can understand.

When a group of football fans correspond together on a forum, they have certain things in common. If they are on the forum long enough, they have a shared joy or suffering. In this case you have a shared suffering with KC fans who have not won the Super Bowl in 50 years.

So they do not want their discussions about the team and speculation about how the team is making progress, to be polluted -- constantly in fact -- by a bunch of people who have nothing in common with them because they are in fact NOT FANS OF THE TEAM.

I can't make it any clearer than that.

I don't see anybody calling out for a Safe Space on this ****ing chaotic, godforsaken, no rules apply barroom brawl they call a forum here, but I am pretty sure that at least they want to go toe to toe with people who at least are FELLOW FANS OF THE TEAM.

Is that ****ing too much to ask? Not that non-Chiefs fans aren't welcomed here. They just don't want us non-Chiefs fans to go around telling them how they should feel about their team and their struggles and their frustration after 50 years without a super bowl win.

Capice? No? No, probably not.

He is, but not a big enough upgrade to justify the cost to get him. The Redskins will get a 3rd round compensatory pick, so the trade from their perspective works like this:

Cousins, Fuller, 78th pick for Smith and 2019 3rd round pick (likely 97th overall).

I like Smith more than most and feel he is better than Cousins, but not by that wide of a margin. In fact I would say the gap is close enough that you could reasonably argue its a lateral move. It seems to me they would have been better to keep Cousins and Fuller and not move down 20 spots in the 3rd round.

Age: Cousins > Smith
QBR: Cousins > Smith
TD/INT ratio: Cousins > Smith
Playoffs: Smith > Cousins
Able to sign: Smith > Cousins

Alex was never going to Cleveland under any circumstances. He would retire before going there. Tom Condon and Veach used Cleveland as a foil to bid up the Redskins. It was brilliant.

For the first time in decades, I've woken up and truly believed this organization could win a Super Bowl in the next 5-10 years.

Can't wait for the season to start, and to watch Veach continue to build a team around Mahomes.

Red Dawg 01-31-2018 06:51 AM

We all know how they feel. QB hell. Good enough for some wins but that's it. Not winning crap with him at QB. He will disappear late in the game.

BigCatDaddy 01-31-2018 06:57 AM

Its ok guys. Tigger said Wash was stacked on offense when we discussed Cousins so Shitty should do great.

TambaBerry 01-31-2018 07:09 AM

god damn guys, Fuller which is like a 1st round pick, a 3rd round pick, around 16 million in cap room saved and Alex Smith gone, this is absolutely incredible. Also, I am glad I was wrong about it being Norman,

notorious 01-31-2018 07:16 AM

Just saw this.

It’s exciting, and Reid did a decent job getting value for Smith. I bet he does well in Washington, and we needed a CB very badly.

Reminds me a little of the Champ Bailey for Portis trade.

Fuller is better than a 1st rounder. Instead of a lottery ticket, we stole their lottery winnings.

smithandrew051 01-31-2018 07:44 AM

This is an absolute heist.

The Chiefs significantly upgraded at corner, got a decent draft pick, and cleared a bunch of cap space.

Alex Smith had his best year, but he’ll regress to the mean this upcoming year. Everyone focuses on what he did this last year, but they forget that is an outlier. Do you still think of Cam Newton the way you did in his MVP season? Or what about Matt Ryan in his? Or do you still think about Joe Flacco the way you did after he won the Super Bowl?

These average QBs have the occasion great season, then they regress to the mean.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-31-2018 07:47 AM

So, Kendall Fuller will be 23 years old this upcoming season, AKA the normal age for a rookie. Awesome.

Also, we receive the 78th pick. For perspective, Fuller was the 84th pick in the 2016 draft.

This is a far worse trade than the KC-Niners-Smith deal. Not even comparable.

In 2013 there weren't any other decent QBs available.

This right here was an all out fleecing. A robbery

You can pretty much forget any idea of Washington backing out. Once they agreed to a contract with Smith, that becomes a lot less plausible.

Yep. Me and Tigger had the bet that if Smith was on/off the roster by the start of 2018, the other was banned for 3 months.

Absolutely. Fuller's quality of play was certainly 1st round worthy last year. Plus, he's just 23 come February. Basically still a rookie age.

My guess is that they trade Peters after next year or so for a haul and use those picks to replace him.

Absolutely. Fuller's quality of play was certainly 1st round worthy last year. Plus, he's just 23 come February. Basically still a rookie age.

That's not sayiing I think he is worth it but more that there are idiots around the league.

Let's hope not. To have two stud corners both 25 and 23 years old is rare. We need to keep them.

That IS NOT going to happen.

Nope. All okay. I am glad not to have to wait until mid March.

KC gets well compensated. Alex gets well compensated. Today is a good day.

It won't be hard to keep them when Justin Houston's not here anymore. Factor in how many guys who are being paid good money won't be on this roster in 2 years and you have your answer.

It's nice to not be the ones getting laughed at for a change.

We save that for playoff time.

Good morning to all my fellow Chiefs fans! What a glorious day in the Kingdom! Day One of the new era has been a great so far!

Hammock Parties 01-31-2018 08:50 AM

So last night was kind of amazing.

I went rock climbing with a gal I've been seeing, and then we went to get pizza at Il Lazzarone. We're sitting there having a great time and I get a text with the tweet announcing the trade. HOLY SHIT. So we talked about how much I hate Alex Smith, which SHE LOVED, for some strange reason, and then we went to her place and I went deep. And she fed me baked goods.

One of the best ****ing nights of my life, for sure.

I'm going to drop some killer ****ing GIFs later.

I agree with you. They'll say it was a coincidence, but remember the Smith trade happened literally right at the end of the combine. I always took that to mean that Reid and company examined Geno and all the other QBs, were underwhelmed and said forget that. Not to mention Washington already had a QB producing decent numbers the last couple years. They were not in the complete gutter like the Pioli Chiefs were.

Sassy Squatch 01-31-2018 08:52 AM

Cardinals, Browns, and Broncos all had discussions with us about Smith.

"You guys"? I've been on this forum for 18 years. And I've been a Chiefs fan for 45 years. I'm not one of the people they are talking about, I'm just commenting that nothing those people did hurt anyone. If it bothered you that is on you.

I'm just baffled at the fact that fuller was even someone they had a passing thought of trading. How the **** do you trade a stud 22yr old cb for a ****ing over the hill Alex Smith AND a pick? Seriously have to be the biggest group of dumb mother tickets ever. I can't root for this **** anymore and I'm angry about it

Can you imagine if we'd made a trade with the Broncos? I don't even know what it would take to make that a good idea.

The offseason couldn't realistically be off to a better start, except for the Sutton abomination.

As much as I hate Buttons, he has put some nice defenses together the last 5 years.. Alex wasted them for 5 years. 5 years in an eternity in the NFL, defense got old, really old. Its time to rebuild it with youth.

Will we see a different Defense next year. IF not, to the gallows for Mr Buttons!

Dilly Dilly!

Are Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and the KC offensive line included in the trade?

The Redskins have nothing like the talent he had around him in KC. You can bet he will slip back to the old Alex Smith in 2018. Count on it

Sutton will look just fine if you keep adding talent to the defense like this... any coach would.

This is the first step in giving that group a much needed makeover.

Here comes the yards argument again. I will just stop here. Smiths INT% ALONE makes him a better option than Cousins. Just saying.

If Alex Smith is as great as you seem to think he is, why are the Chiefs, who made the playoffs with him this season, so eager to move on from him?

I think they're on to us.ROFL
