absolutely. We need to win. I have full trust in Ryu going into game 3. Dude doesnt let big games get into his head. He's the calmest dude i have seen pitch. The only thing is, how is his shoulder from the inflammation. He hasnt pitched a MLB game in a few weeks just a simulated game last week.

Yeah I agree Ryu is a top notch starter. I don't think he will be bothered by the moment. But, I heard on the pre-game show that he hasn't thrown in a game in over a month. Your first game back after a month layoff is in the playoffs?

Thats a risky start. I would make the move also. You have no choice. Haren can be a very risky starter. We win tonight or lose and win against Ryu, no way they don't start Kershaw on short rest.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 07:15 PM

The Cardinals have a history of crushing injured pitchers in the post-season. Clay Buch-....

People talk mad shit, but he really is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I have a TON of Ken Griffey Jr (my childhood hero) swag, like cards, and a signed ball that BRC just straight up GAVE me because he didn't have room for it anymore. I don't get the hate.

Good luck Cards fan. I've come to like that team from living in Northern Arkansas...I mean Hillbilly Hollywood, MO.

They said his fastball had the same velocity. He did misss his last few starts, but i rather trust him then Haren or Fausto. Its a no brainer. Ryu is a solid number 2 starter in this league. He just behind 2 number 1 type guys.

I think the Dodgers will start Kershaw in game 4 if it makes it that far. Kershaw will beg and plead to start again.

That stupid shift track thingy in the upper right hand corner is annoying. If there is some kind of weird shift on, show it briefly. If they are playing normal, why do we have to see it?

I got to see Griffey hit his 500th HR on a Fathers Day game at Busch sitting 12 rows behind home plate.

Cards got spanked 8-0 I think but I have always thought that was cool to see.

Marcellus 10-04-2014 08:35 PM

Well shit.

kcxiv 10-04-2014 08:35 PM

wong completely botched that play.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 08:41 PM

This inning is why you never, ever, pass up a gifted out. The Dodgers were giving you the out. Trust Lynn to get the next guy, but you can't bring in the possibility of a big inning.

Just stupid baseball by Matheny.

As far as Wong goes, whatever we can trade him for I'm fine with. The guy has the baseball IQ of petegz.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 08:43 PM

Those two runs are on Matheny. Just stupid.

Mr. Flopnuts 10-04-2014 08:43 PM

15 innings is just nuts.

BigRedChief 10-04-2014 08:44 PM

Yeah screwed the pooch. Cost us a run so far. I like the idea of sliding in that situation. Make the fielder take a step or two and have to bend down to tag. Maybe just enough time to get the runner safely to first.

Yeah, I get that, but that runner is never on first if you just take the out. If Gordon has to elevate the ball to the outfield to get the run in, the entire AB is different.

I'm not absolving Wong of being an idiot. He's proven that he's a ****ing moron. Still, you don't ever give up outs, and you never, ever hand them back.

Selfish baseball of Adams here. With a shift that severe, he should be laying it down the third base line.

The wheel play needs to be disguised and only put on late. Didn't we have tha happen this year? Saw the wheel play and bunted into it anyway?

kcxiv 10-04-2014 08:53 PM

Verducci is stupid saying he picked the Dodgers because they were in the National League, He picked the Dodgers because they offered him the most money and in his presser Zack said, hey i come here because of the money. He's a straight shooter.

O.city 10-04-2014 08:54 PM

If a team is going to bunt, as brad Pitt said, let them. Take the out

It's a classic example of managers outsmarting themselves. If I were a GM, I would legit fine my players for trying to do too much in situations like that. Just throw the ball over the middle of the plate around the letters and take the ****ing out.

He picked the Dodgers because he wanted to hit.ROFL

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 08:59 PM

It's astounding to me: you can only win the game by scoring runs, and you can only score by reaching safely.

If a team is giving up a batter, let them do it. Conversely, don't let them on base for free.

BigRedChief 10-04-2014 08:59 PM

Just make the guy bunt it. Throw fastballs for strikes and take te out. I agree, don't get it

BigRedChief 10-04-2014 09:01 PM

Matheny says it wasn't a wheel play? They hold their positions? He needs to look at the tape. It was a full blown telegraphed wheel play.

I hope they come out swinging. Don't try to run up the count and get him out of the game in the 5th/6th. Sit on that fastball and take your hacks.

He fell in love with that fastball and we got him again. :)

A wheel play generally involves the shortstop rotating to third while the third baseman charges. If you look at their alignment, they had both 1st and 3rd in so close they couldn't really charge.

It was more overplaying the bunt to the point where you tipped your hand. Had they just been on the cusp of the IF, he lays the bunt down and they score either one or no runs that inning.

kcpasco 10-04-2014 09:04 PM

So I have a question regarding the rules on replay. What if Adams noticed that Wong missed the tag and threw to second but Grienke was walking back to the dugout?

Greinke should not have been given second for that very reason. Matheny should have come out for an explanation at the very least. He ****ed up.

O.city 10-04-2014 09:06 PM

I know there's still season to play here, but looking ahead, I'd unload some of these prospects for proven guys if I could (I think the time has passed for that as they've shown to be overrated).

Either a Donaldson to play third and carp back to 2nd, or Stanton type deal.

well once he calls him out for Grienke it ends there. At least thats what it looks like and the **** up gives him the automatic 2nd base. I dont see how else you do that play.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:08 PM

I'm ****ing stunned that was a fair ball. That was a great swing.

That's why Matheny should go out for the explanation, because If Wong throws to first, they have a good chance of getting Greinke on the tag at second.

It's not that Greinke should have absolutely been out, but there is an argument to be made for how the play transpired.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:10 PM

The Cardinals must be stealing signs, because there is no way that major league players could ever hit the Dodgers.

kcpasco 10-04-2014 09:11 PM

Ya I'm not complaining because there was never a throw to 2nd but it would be nice to get a definition of the rule in that case

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:12 PM

I think once the manager goes out play is frozen. Its just weird all the way around.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:21 PM

Why would you throw over to first there? If Gordon goes you can deke Greinke into trying for home.

Game 3 will determine if the Lackey trade was worth it. Our top 2 guys did not show up so hopefully Lackey ' s reputation comes true.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:24 PM

Stop nibbling. This is where you get in trouble. Just throw your sinker in on his hands.

BigRedChief 10-04-2014 09:25 PM

Damn where has the Lynn been the previous 3 years?

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:26 PM

Greinke has outpitched Lynn, but not by much. Greinke has given up three hard hit balls and Lynn has given up three or four.

The biggest is that the Dodgers have sequenced their hits and some of their balls have found holes.

Marcellus 10-04-2014 09:26 PM

Way to hang with it.

I disagree, Lynn has been pitching well. This is a stacked $226 million line up.

BigRedChief 10-04-2014 09:29 PM

Carp is hot.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:30 PM

Molina crushed one against Greinke, Peralta hit a sinking line drive, Adams hit one hard in the gap, and Wong ripped one down the line.

One total hit. Yeah, Greinke's been great, but there really hasn't been that much of a difference.

And now Carpenter hits one hard in the gap. Greinke isn't turning water into wine out there, despite what this broadcast crew wants to say.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2014 09:31 PM

Right there. That ball was hit harder than the two hits in the last inning. So much of it is just randomness.

Can't hate on Jay there. He hit the ball hard. That's all you can do.

Marcellus 10-04-2014 09:31 PM

Harold is smoking weed or some shit.

Phenomenal play by Puig that had no chance and was a waste of time and was dangerous at best.
