Chuck's line about Victor being the only skinny person in San Antonio had me in stitches.

Far better. The level of athlete in the NBA 40 years ago is nothing compared to today. The difference is enormous over the course of LeBron’s entire career too. When he first started out in 2003, the game was basically played in slow motion compared to 2024.

Level of athlete? Who are the 2 best guys in the league?

dirk digler 12-04-2024 08:28 PM

Heat blowing out the Lakers by 40 and all the scrubs are in with 10 minutes left except LeBron. He is in stat pad mode. Finally checked out with 8 minutes left.

Not sure JJ is better than Ham

True, but there aren't a ton of Kurt Rambis or Frank Brickowski-types any more. And as athletic as he was, there really aren't any Anthony Masons, either. The NBA is better and that's a great thing.

Who are more athletic than 99% of those who played 40 years ago, yes.

LeBron went 29-5-8 on 12/18 shooting (so much for being "absolutely washed").

Any comment from you on AD completely no showing that game to a tune of 8 points? It's pretty clear if he doesn't play like a MVP-level player on a nightly basis (which he is fully capable of) that the Lakers aren't a playoff team. No coach is gonna ever make that guy try regularly, though, unfortunately.

Jokic and Luca types are not athletic. They are skilled.

Also contrary to popular belief you don't have to be that athletic in the NBA except if you are a guard.

Nonsense. Are you saying you can only be a great athlete if you can jump super high?

Yes. Quick twitch. They are not fast. They are not quick. They do not jump. They are skilled. Skilled can get you really far when you are tall. Every single DB in the NFL is waaaay more athletic than 98% of NBA players that are forwards and centers.

For the longest time tall and big kids in the states are were not encouraged to become skilled.

If you don't think Jokic is "quick twitch," you probably need to watch him a bit more often.

He absolutely is NOT quick twitch. I watch him all the time and want to throw shit at my TV. He is ruining the NBA.

Patrick Mahomes would destroy him at every single athletic test imaginable.

Next you'll tell me Novak Djokovic isn't a great athlete either. He can't jump either, right?
