You’re trying so hard to make Johnson work even when you have a proven commodity sitting on the bench.

As soon as he came in, the pass defense got better. That’s not a coincidence.

I thought we have found our corner to let Sneed walk. I assumed the coaches were happy with him. It looked to me that he was a starting corner in the NFL. Maybe he slacked off in the off season, didn't study like spags wanted, wherever happened is in the past, he's our best corner to step in as a starter.

Nonsense. It was Watson the whole time.

Joshua Williams was the #3 , he just struggled initially.

Just because you didn't know doesn't mean they didn't know.

Yeah, I’m not sure what he did to piss them off, but they’re going to have to just swallow it and leave him in there at this point. He’s a proven commodity and Johnson has proven he does not belong on the field right now. Even if they like his potential more, it can wait until next year. We have a 3-peat to complete.

Josh Williams basically has a skillset where if you can mix him in as CB 3 he has a lot of value because he's good if you can keep him playing to his strengths. When he goes to CB 2 you can't protect him as much so some of his flaws get exposed.

The difference in a blah defense a top 10 defense and a top 5 defense for this team is literally quality CBs.

The biggest issue is throwing the amount of resources you need to in order to build a top 5 defense at the problem.

If we can get Mcduffue, Watson and Williams on the field and get that bum Conner off we’ll be in good shape

Not really. Get some DB’s and pass rushers. LB’s are not expensive and good safeties have been cheaper than ever.

IMO Conner is not a bum. He is just being asked to do things he is not capable of.

Ok, that’s fair.

Get him out of the slot

You can't have a weakness to have a top 5 elite defense. 11 (really 14 or so) good players all on the same page all the time.

In the end, it's better to set your sights on a top 12ish defense that can get stops and build your offense. It's easier to keep an offense together and translate it from year to year vs a defense.

Re: Watson coming back … Mrs. Idaho had a compound fracture in the same area last year (lower leg/ankle area) and was non-weight-bearing on it for 16 weeks.

Once she was cleared for activity, she was back to 100 percent within a month. Able to run and jump again.

And she was 40, not an elite athlete, and did not have access to full professional care and rehab. With a more severe injury.

All that to say… it wouldn’t be surprising to me if Watson is at full strength by January.

Can she play CB though?

BWillie is so reeruned that he doesn't understand that there can be competition at a position while coaches have a favorite or good idea of who the starter is.

Looking back and I'm so confused by wtf Spags was thinking. Williams played 100% of the snaps against the Bucs and allowed 1 catch on 3 targets for 9 yards. He then played 6 snaps the next week, then 0 snaps the next 2 weeks.

Wtf?

It was utter madness. I was stunned when I saw Johnson taking 90 and 100% of the snaps in multiple games and Williams getting nothing. Big error from Spags and it cost us against the Bills imo because they targeted Johnson all game.
