These threads feel like an exaggerated south park episode.

Well. This is certainly ****ing stupid.

Why's that? The guy is a ****ing idiot. I'm not calling for his release or anything really but if it happens that he is released or can't play for however this plays out moving on will be easy. If and when he plays for the Chiefs I'll hope he plays well. Meanwhile I hope we draft another WR who turns out to be a better player then Rice who is good but not really great.

So no info on Rice turning himself in? Seems that would be the next step since the warrant was issued.

This is a fair bit more measured than "I don't give a damn if he ever plays another down for the Chiefs..."

Worked on the wrong kind of speed in the offseason.

My best guess:

The first 6 charges - hybrid felonies - get plead down as the misdemeanor versions of themselves and he ends up getting 12 months in county concurrently but with an SIS (so no felony record). The 7th and 8th charges are dropped as part of the plea (and honestly, I have no earthly idea how they can even stick anyway).

2-4 game suspension but I still think 2 feels more likely. Again, we've gone over the array of personal conduct penalties not involving DV and it's a smorgasbord for far hairier shit that got 1-2 games.

What would stop some hot shot judge or prosecutor from saying no to a deal? I have always wondered this stuff because the process kind of just seems like a formality

In58men 04-11-2024 10:36 AM

6-8 games for sure. I stand by that

Rainbarrel 04-11-2024 10:40 AM

His last professional game was played from the home locker room of the Las Vegas Raiders. He had no choice in the matter, legally bound. Bad influence

Time and money.

Do they have the resources to go to war over this? Is it a precedent they even WANT to set? I mean if they hang Rice for this, now are they going to find themselves in a situation where later defendants are less likely to be cooperative because they barbecued Rice? Do they really want to be going to war on these?

How is this at all relevant? LMAO

Would it be worse or less acceptable if he were white?

Agreed, he’s starting at 8 and will be lucky to get it down to 6. There are optics here that look almost worse than the crimes. The NFL will punish him probably more than the justice system because they don’t have to go by the law. They can assume he was probably drunk and/or high while driving, and leaving the scene completely screwed him. It looks so bad.

Hope we’re wrong but we’ll see.

What does his race/ethnicity/skin color have to do with this?

Or is this one of those situations where you are low key letting us all know how you feel about certain people? (actual question, not an assumption)

The soft bigotry of low expectations.
