can you PM me the VIN as well as some other pictures? Can't believe I am actually considering this. Driving 18 hours by myself in less than two days is probably too much for me to take on.

How does that even work purchasing a car in one state and taking it to another? What about state inspections. will a car from arizona be under different standards than in Kansas? license plate issue?

Why pay to drive it when you can ship for less, unless you have reservations on buying sight unseen its, well, silly.

it doesn't matter now. Just found out he won't be able to sell it until May/June. We need a car now.

I did love the thought of getting to see all that scenery on the way back.

I imagine it varies by state, but here in NE you have to take it to a specific DMV office that has an inspection station, and all they do is make sure the numbers on the car and title match up.

If it were up to me I would just sell him our car and get a new one but the Mrs won't sign off on that. LMAO

Same thing in KS.

I will say I have talked through the maintenance records on lew's car and it's been top notch maintained.

I think he should just figure it out himself. I got my first car given to me at the age of 16 but after that I was completely on my own.

yeah, he just sent me a list of what was done and it appears to be very well maintained. I think the only thing that would be coming up on it is the timing belt.

wish I could but I feel somewhat responsible for that last POS vehicle. We didn't let him look at anything more expensive because we knew he couldn't afford it so we talked him into that explorer since it was only 1500.

IIRC it was a chain, pretty sure that's the first thing I asked him about, then I looked it up.

Why can't all vehicles use a chain instead of a belt?

Sounds to me like the wheel bearing failed, let him know that it HAD to have been making noise and next time he hears that noise start, especially if the roar is changing with your turns, get it somewhere to get it looked at.

Never seen one fail like that that didn't make an ungodly noise for quite some time

But like I said I'm pretty sure that was the case with his. I just looked and those pm's are gone.
