Bump! :D
|
I really don't feel like having this in it's own thread, so I'll vent in here. I have worked at the same place for nearly nine years. The only time I have had to deal with the public was when I worked in HR, or when I was on-site at a hospital in Memphis. Whenever I worked in those positions, I dressed appropriately. Now, the company that acquired us last year is putting a dress code on our production employees.
Shorts cannot be more than two inches above the knee. No tight clothing or clothing with offensive words/pictures. No speghetti straps, tank tops, halter tops, or tube tops. No holes in jeans or frayed pant legs. No hats. No visible tattoos or piercings other than ears. No hair that is an unnatural color (Black, Brown, Blonde, Red, or Gray). Fingernails cannot be excessively long or painted with a bold color that will draw attention to them. Beards must be neatly trimmed. Do any of these seem a little ridiculous to you, considering we do not dea with the public? |
Never heard of tattoos on the ears. :)
It also reads as if Black, Brown, Blonde, Red, or Gray are unnatural hair colors. And what about blue hair that is actually a natural color too. |

Oh, and we can wear sandals, but no flip-flops. Aren't those basically the same thing?

My aunt today was telling me how she loved this time of year because she could go out in her thongs. :Lin: I looked at her and said Excuwhadoyouhuh? She was talking about her flip flops. Anyone else ever heard this term before? |
They owe me $15. I bought a pair of shorts that I knew I could wear to work that I otherwise would have bought. Now I can't wear them, or capris. Unless of course, i want to wear band-aids or ace bandages around my ankles. And no, socks won't cover them.
But that's my personal gripe. No hats? No bold colors on your nails? C'mon. |

I had not heard this since I was a young kid. I got a wee bit grossed out hearing it from my Aunt. |

It doesn't matter though, the bigwigs decide what you are allowed to wear. The company that aquired yours is probably publicly traded (I'm guessing), so their rules apply. |

What do you produce? Remember that the guy who wrote out this dress code ALWAYS wears a suit to work and comes home to a wife that thinks he is a joke and denies him sex. |
