That should have been a home run. We should be up 2-0. That replay showed an almost perfect swing on the ball. Does 54 degrees make that much of a difference in the length of a batted ball?

Absolutely. The ball doesn't deform as much because it's stiffer. It's like hitting a rock. You can get an extra 20-30 yards on a golf ball in warm weather (5-10%). Baseballs aren't much different.
