Cinci will be in the playoffs if Burrow gets healthy. They can go 0-3, maybe 0-4 and still go 11-2/10-3.

That’s if Burrow is healthy tho. Big if

like i guess what is worse, assuming worst case for both: not making the playoffs or burrow tearing an achilles. I'd say the achilles but I'm not a doctor

Since 2002 only 1 team that has started 0-3 has made the playoffs.

Only 6 teams in in the superbowl era have made it to the playoffs starting 0-3.

If Cincy goes to 0-3 missing the playoffs is all but guaranteed.

The Chiefs made it after starting 1-5.

But, as has been demonstrated, Burrow is no Alex Smith.

Finishing with 2 or 3 losses after starting 0-4 would be a magical achievement.

Yeah, he needs to rethink that math.

In the playoffs and this season Smith is better.

KC Started that season with 1-0 record. Not remotely the same as 0-2 or 0-3.

I think you both need to re-read his post. His math is fine.

His math is fine. If Cincy starts 0-3 they could go 11-2 the rest of the way. 0-4 and easily finish out 10-3 for the remaining games.

Reading comprehension is important.

It's funny because it's true!

Ah, true. Skimmed it.

But they're not pulling off a run like that anyway. I know they went 10-1 down the stretch last year but they literally played 1 good team in that run.

You think that 1-5 is a better position to be in than 0-2?

FloridaMan88 09-19-2023 10:22 AM

Joe Burrow with an injured calf behind a struggling offensive line vs Aaron Donald next Monday... what could go wrong.

ForeverIowan 09-19-2023 10:33 AM

If Burrow can get healthy the Bengals can very easily still get the #6 or #7 seed. Look how it lays out.

Division winners:
Chiefs
Ravens
Jags
Dolphins

Wildcards:
Bills
Titans

Who does that leave for the Bengals to fight for the #7 seed?

Chargers (who are also 0-2)
Steelers
Jets (Rodgers out)
Colts

The 7 seed in the AFC may very well get in with a losing record. Start rooting for the Steelers to get in over the Chargers or Bengals that is a much more favorable matchup for KC.

Just kinda shows that these W/L = playoffs equations are silly.

1st, most of that is based off a 16 game schedule. 2nd, teams like the Chiefs/Bengals/Bills/Eagles etc are all plenty capable of rattling off long winning streaks.

Bengals could go 0-5 and still make the playoffs.
