The bigger issue is that they're gonna have to go into New England AND Baltimore. That's just ****ing tough man. Going into 1 is one thing, but both....damn.

I think the extra playoff game is a plus. We get to play at home against a lesser team. Hopefully, get a playoff win to get this young team some experience and will be battle-tested for the over-rated cheating Patriots.

People seem to forget we have already beaten the Ravens and Pats this year. Those Chiefs teams were not as healthy and playing as well as we are now.

Yeah seriously. The Ravens will just blitz Allen all day, and he'll miss easy passes by 4 feet all game long.

At this point in the season, I'll always take rest.

IIRC, there were stats that showed that there isn't much correlation to how you play going into the postseason and the actual postseason, but I am probably way off on that.

Accurate.

2015- DEN
2011- NYG
2010 Lost to NYJ twice without Welker but also beat them 45-7
2006- Lost Colts
2005- DEN

You gotta go a long ways back for this stat.

2015 - 0-2 Denver
2012 - 0-2 vs Bal
2011 - 0-2 vs NYG
2010 - 1-2 vs NYJ
2006 - 0-2 vs IND

Every other team they beat they also beat or didn't face in the regular season.

Hammock Parties 12-23-2019 11:10 AM

You can also stretch it back to 2005, 0-2 vs Denver.

So, six.

KChiefs1 12-23-2019 11:13 AM

I know the Patriots lost to the Rams in 2001 before beating them in the Super Bowl.

Yeah, but thinking you're going to go into New England off a bye week and roll Belichick is crazy. They are 12-1 in the divisional round after a bye. I really think that's their best shot to beat us.

It’s not going to be easy either way. But the Ravens are a better football team.

12-1 means nothing to me right now. They aren’t as good as most of those teams were IMO. Most importantly Brady.

Andy is the type of coach who can mitigate a bit of that bye week advantage schematically. But anywho. Again, not going to be easy regardless.

On Sunday, the Raiders need the Houston Texans to beat the Titans, the Baltimore Ravens to beat the Steelers and the Colts to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. If all those things happen, coupled with a Raiders win, then Oakland will sneak into the last playoff spot.

Currently, the Titans have the final playoff spot and would play the Kansas City Chiefs if the playoffs began tomorrow.

Halfcan 12-23-2019 01:17 PM

Considering how bad the Chiefs have destroyed the Faders this year- it would be a great tune-up game for us at home.

Go Faders!!

O.city 12-23-2019 01:23 PM

The Ravens are really in the catbird seat here in the AFC. Chiefs are in the worst spot.

If it weren't for the Bills being the 5 and being pretty sound and physical, I'd rather be the 4. Go play the Ravens first, then see if someone can go beat New England.

I don't think the Texans can beat the Ravens. They can beat the Pats.

RunKC 12-23-2019 01:27 PM

Playing the Raiders would be great for us. We would destroy them again and basically get a bye.

O.city 12-23-2019 01:28 PM

Yeah, we should all be cheering for the Raiders to get that 6 seed. We would power drive them, could rest in the 2nd half.

The midseason titans game was crazy. I would say most of you feel like that was one you should have won. I was pretty amazed myself.
Speaking of playing the titans, I had no idea Andy Reid had such a bad record against them. It's like he's cursed with all the flukey stuff that happens, especially the last 2.

Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said that he has no plans to rest players for Week 17 against the Titans.
The Texans can improve their seeding with a win and Chiefs loss on Sunday, but resting starters would arguably be more beneficial since the organization already has a postseason appearance in the bag. Will Fuller (groin) and Kenny Stills (hamstring) also came away from Houston's Week 16 win against the Bucs banged up. O'Brien still reaffirmed the organization is "playing to win" Sunday's meaningless regular season finale against the Titans, so expect all to be called on to arbitrarily try and jostle seeding in the AFC on Sunday. The Raiders do need the Texans to win (among other outcomes) in order to sneak into the playoffs.

Ravens won’t be an easy out. But their defense gives up big plays to receivers, their RB, and TE got gimped up yesterday, and Lamar took a hit yesterday where he came up limping a little. All it’s gonna take is someone to hit him right and his game will have to change. They have 3 weeks to rest, but that’s a long time to get stagnant.

Tony G actually giving the Chiefs love. Saying we will beat the Ravens and the defense is the main reason why. Says we will give Ravens problems meanwhile Vick Wiley and Whitlock all said Ravens are better

I am not really impressed with the Ravens defense. The Jets were running all over them. I see a repeat of the last game. Mahomes and our offense will carve them up. This time, their running game will run into a Red brick wall.

I just know that they’re going to attack Peters. And he can’t hide this time. They aren’t going to protect him like Wade Phillips did.

He can’t cover Hill whatsoever and I really don’t think he can hang with Watkins when he is locked in.

Why are we getting mad that the media loves the other two teams? Let them. Build the hype, and the pressure. Give Lamar the MVP. Let Mahomes go under the radar slightly. Getting overlooked is more fun anyway.

And all that being said, plenty of pundits will pick us in those matchups, most certainly in the NE game.

There is no question. The offense isn't just saying they trust the defense to be good teammates anymore. They believe it.

I’m sitting here getting jazzed up just thinking about the playoffs.

Just take care of business these next two weeks and then the fun ****ing begins.

I want to beat the Patriots and Ravens SO bad.

We have a HUNGRY team and fanbase that I think wants this more than anyone else in the field. Just thinking about this team in the Super Bowl sends chills all the way down my body. I really think we can do it this year.

We’re gonna embark on an epic giant slaying tour that will be so much more satisfying than if we had to play a bunch of patsies. I’m ready to put on some pads just thinking about it.

I think Terez Paylor was spot on when he talked about Tenn on his show last night.

The whole city and fan base will be nervous and antsy, but it will be an ‘over my dead body’ game for Mahomes. And with HB, Clark, Suggs leading the charge in practice for the D... no way they have that letdown.

Paylor said we’d whoop Tennessee this go around.

This will help the Texans a ton against Baltimore

Defense will have something to prove. This time it’s personal

It’s a shame we didn’t have Pennel all season.

I tell ya what tho man. Our losses to the Colts and Titans were UGLY losses. But we got Suggs as a consolation. Ironically I wouldn't change a thing.

If I could go back in time change those two losses into victories and not get Suggs, I wouldn't. Suggs completed a pass rush trip that might be second to nobody right now. And we have the perfect DC to utilize their talents. Spags shut down Brady, Moss, and the rest of the 18-1 2007 Super Bowl runner ups. A great pass rush played a key roll.

Not mention a rotation of Clark, Suggs, Jones, Nnadi, and Pennel is very solid against the run. Being we may be seeing the Titans AND Ravens, this is vital.

The only team that can beat the Chiefs are....the Chiefs. I really honestly believe that.

If we play our game, no one is beating us.

Hell the offense hasn't had to get out of 2nd gear for like the last 3 games.

No one scares me.
