A lot of zone defense against the O this year me thinks. Watch it all be dink and dunk and CP die on the inside

Oh no doubt teams will try and zone the piss out of us, forcing the short and quick game, just like they did all of Mahomes college career... he has been there and done it

But they will often fail, someone is almost always gonna break loose deep, and more often than not... Mahomes is gonna find them

This is gonna be a fastbreak offense

Guess again shit for brains. The only poster needing a drool bucket is you. Especially if you haven't got enough sense to realize that I am a Chiefs fan. Not a Smith fan. Now go back to your corner before we call the asylum guards to restrain you for your own good...... again.

Oh well. There are always holes against zone and guys constantly miss assignments. People will be open regardless.

And if Mahomes can’t read zone, we’re ****ed anyway.

Nope. Wrong as usual. I enjoyed watching the Chiefs put a winning team on the field the last 5 years. Cassel was garbage. I never did support him. Big difference. But your juvenile mind can't understand that.

We paid a mint for him but it's going to be worth it. Watkins has never had a QB that would allow him to showcase his talent. the dude has GREAT hands.

Watkins is more than solid at just about everything. The only real question about him is his health. He is an elite receiver if he can stay healthy. We have a fantastic pair of receivers in Hill and Watkins if healthy.

If healthy, if healthy,if healthy ...

There's nothing wrong with the dink and dunk when it works. That 40-burger we dropped on NE at Arrowheadback in 2014 was primarily dink and dunk and a great ground game.

I think most people here were frustrated with the extreme aversion to opening up the deep shots here and there to prevent defenses from keying on the short and intermediate areas that really pissed people off.

Yeah, that video had him taking some hits

jaa1025 05-20-2018 10:50 PM

Watkins could be the best WR in the league if he was paired with a good QB. Last year, he had Goff but he was traded to the end of camp and never developed that chemistry with the QB that couldn't throw him the deep ball.

Watkins will probably have his best season of his career with Mahomes and this offense if he can stay healthy. I'm honestly not worried about his health. I'm more worried about Mahomes' health since he's the only QB on this roster worth a damn.

He sure does puff out his chest when he paraded around this board on a Geno Smith crusade. Literally one of the worst QB options you could ever get behind and he was here, beating the table, that the Chiefs needed him.

So keep that in mind when you argue with this failed abortion.

I've quit arguing with him. I actually blocked him a couple of weeks ago. He brings absolutely nothing useful to this board. I can't ban him from the board, but I can, and did, ban him from what I see. The board has been a much more pleasant experience since.

In Alex's last season they started opening that up a little, too, at least in the first eight games.

My biggest frustration was that they didn't take risks when they clearly needed to take risks. Throwing the ball deep at the end of the half when an interception was irrelevant, pushing the ball downfield when they needed a drive at the end of the game, and that sort of thing is when I felt that they failed by design.

I know some will think I’m crazy but I sorta alluded to this last week in the predictions thread—I think Sammy winds up being our ‘#1’ this year.

Not to say I don’t think he, Hill, and Kelce don’t all kill it. I can see them all racking up 1000+. But I think Sammy is a great fit for Mahomes as a WR1. Also, I think he will see a lot of 1v1 coverage because Tyreek has to have a safety over him.

It's time for the OTA/TC part of the season, when all we can see is our offense facing our defense. Offense win, means defense sucks. Defense wins, what's wrong with the offense!?!

That would be really amazing. Probably not likely they all go over 1k though. Last year we had Hill, Kelce, and Hunt all go over 1k yds. That plus a 4k QB. I recall seeing a stat that the last time a team did that was the 1981 Chargers. If we did that again plus have Watkins go over 1k, that would likely be some kind of all time record for production.

Priest31kc 05-23-2018 06:56 PM

Yeah Watkins is gunna rape faces in this offense and with Mahomes. So much attention will be on Hill & Kelce & Hunt in the backfield that he's gunna consistently be open...and Mahomes doesn't need a receiver to be WIDE open like Alex did.

Just stay healthy Sammy...

RunKC 05-23-2018 07:30 PM

Notice he’s lined up in the slot too. Andy is going to continuously switch Hill, Watkins and Kelce in there.

Gonna be hard for teams to deal with. Few can even hope to try and man cover them. Maybe Jacksonville? Minnesota?

pugsnotdrugs19 05-23-2018 09:23 PM

Last year I really feared a matchup with Jacksonville cause I figured they’d throw either Ramsey or Bouye on Kelce and the other on Reek and contain them pretty well with Smith left to take sack after sack.

But now, insert Watkins and Mahomes’ playmaking style and I just get excited about that game more and more. Going to be tough but we’ve got the horses to put up points on them.

I am hoping our RBs can hurt the opposing team by the air too. It seems like it was what Veach had in mind by bringing in Damien Williams and I think Reid wants to pass the ball more to Hunt.

Great article. Sammy has an awesome work ethic. He is going to create mismatches all over the field.

Pre-snap - defenses are going to have to figure out where he is, where is Hunt lined up, who is going to guard Kelce, and how do you stop Cheetah from burning you deep. This Offense is going to be very difficult to handle and when the Chiefs win one of those mismatches-it will likely be for a score.

MVChiefFan 06-05-2018 11:46 AM

Kiimo 06-05-2018 02:24 PM

Albert Wilson surpassed my wildest projections and saved us in a lot of do or die situations and then went and got himself paid.

I have no problem saying I was wrong about Albert Wilson and wish him the best, especially since Sammy Watkins is a huge upgrade. Wilson was a gamer in my opinion, though. If you close your eyes you can probably remember at least three third and long situations where he got the first down against all odds.

ChiefAshhole1056 06-05-2018 02:36 PM

I cant wait until this offense goes into hurry up mode and each play has a different spot for Watkins/Hill/Kelce to line up in. There isn't a defense in the league that can account for that type of talent.

I cant wait until this offense goes into hurry up mode and each play has a different spot for Watkins/Hill/Kelce to line up in. There isn't a defense in the league that can account for that type of talent.

No huddle will most definitely create problems for the defenses.

Last year the Defenses dictated what Alex could and would do.

This year- Mahomes is forcing the Defenses to react to what we are doing.

Big Difference!

I have no problem saying I was wrong about Albert Wilson and wish him the best, especially since Sammy Watkins is a huge upgrade. Wilson was a gamer in my opinion, though. If you close your eyes youcan probably remember at least three third and long situations where he got the first down against all odds.

In his first year Albert Wilson fully earned every comment about being soft, gutless, alligator armed you name it. As he grew as a professional over the following years, it was very hard to overcome that initial perception. Hence the, "Is Albert Wilson Good?" threads that popped up.

The last couple of years, he was a solid, albeit limited professional, valuable to his team. He had a knack for finding openings on busted plays. He just could not track a ball down field to save his life as Paylor observed.

Wilson is replaceable and Watkins is clearly an upgrade. But I definitely came to appreciate his skills and drive. Hope he continues to have a solid career.

I don't think they will find the top 10 overall, but they might have a chance to be top 10 in Run D. Part of that is because of the youth movement and upgrades, and another is because our pass D will be suspect. I'll throw a wildcard in here, too: because the Chiefs will be playing with the lead so often :).

If Pat is ready, they should never be in the huddle. This offense should be able to line up and run a **** ton of plays with the same starting personnel. Hunt never needs to come off the field; Hill can forever stay out wide to spread the defense wide and deep; Watkins can be outside or move into the slot to create stupid mismatches; Kelce can do just about anything from anywhere now; Robinson/Conley are competent enough to flip with Watkins depending on what is needed from them.

I am expecting to see Hunt rush for 6 YPC this season, and god help a team in the fourth quarter if we have the lead, because the play action will be downright filthy.

It will be awesome if we stay healthy. But chances are we lose at least one key player . hopefully our depth is good enough and i think it is at WR. TE not so much.
