The interesting thing is that most here were hoping Elway would be forced to overpay for an 'overrated' Brock and be stuck with him. Now, it's all about Elway getting screwed by his own ego. I get it... this happens on a rival board.

Post-Manning life was a question mark at QB either way. Had they traded with SF, there would be talk about how they screwed themselves there on a guy that flamed out and the league caught up with ... again, I get it.

The key to remember is that most of the fans understand and expect ups and downs this year. Yeah, you'll always have those that believe the train keeps rolling. Hell, just look at the KC fanbase the last few decades... the next year is always full of optimism, as it should be.

Will Denver repeat their playoff performance? Most likely not.
Will Denver make it 6 straight division titles? Probably not.
Is Denver doomed to be a bottom 12 team in the league? Barring injury, no... and I say that reflecting back on 1999.

Denver lost key players - it happens and while the defense is replacing key guys, they're still gonna be nasty and they're still going to be one of the best.

Kubiak will run his offense this year, compared to what happened last year. And, say what you will with what happened in Houston... that offense had success there, albeit inconsistent, but that offense did well with a sound ground game and a nice defense with Jake Plummer - another turnover prone bonehead that came from AZ with more career turnovers than TDs.

We'll see what they do with Sanchez and that core of players around him, there's lots of skill players - the cupboard is far from bare. Sanchez rightfully so will have a leash and if he stumbles or gets hurt, well then Lynch is thrown into the driver's seat and let the chips fall where they may. Starting any rookie QB is a gamble.

We all like to comment on the perils of other teams as if we really understand the many nuances of building a team and how players will work in new environments, but in reality we're all just gas bags. Some with a bit more gas than others.

Elway being King of the Gas-Bags...he botched this whole situation by slighting his future QB.

What's the climate going to be if they start 1-4 or if Osweiler has success.... The fans are used to the Manning gravy train...as is Elway. This is the first, real, adversity he will have faced since becoming GM. Last season would've been ..had Osweiler/the defense not bailed him out.

Any Broncos' fans that came along as of 2012... well, they'll be looking for new jerseys. Most of us that have been around a while remember the Griese, Cutler, Orton, Tebow eras and we don't take success for granted. Do we expect it? Yes, the history of the franchise has given us peace of mind that the down times don't last long.

Honestly though, you put way too much focus on the loss of Brock and are really fixated on this narrative that Elway has screwed the team with his ego.

After 8, they are likely sitting at 4-4. Less than that wouldn't shock me, nor would it concern me. Now, if they're losing ugly, then that's another topic entirely.

Going back to 2012, I remember all the talk about the team being a joke that was delusional for thinking Peyton was going to do anything with that team. The supporting cast was a joke and it was 'lucky' wins with Tebow. Now, I hear 2015 was 'lucky bounces'... hell, I guess Denver is just annually lucky, so there isn't much to worry about. No?

Harris was our LT and Schofield was our RT. Clady had season ending injuries 2 out of the last 3 years, and was not the same player for that one healthy year. That's why we traded him away: Upside not worth the contract. Schofield struggled badly. Not surprising because he really wasn't supposed to be in there. He's back where he belongs competing for a back up spot with (most likely) Ty Sombrailo who has starts at LT last year before being injured himself. Stephenson is a better RT.

I have already discussed Malik with you in the past regarding why I am OK with letting him walk. I do regret losing Trevathan and I think that was a mistake. It's my opinion that the Broncos like what they had behind him. They might be concerned with his injury history but they just drafted two guys with injury histories so that's questionable.

I think they would have regressed on Defense even if they kept every single guy and magically made them not be a year older. Last year was one of those historic Defensive runs. You can't expect to repeat that. But they will still be very, very good. They are overhauling the Offense. Not just players but scheme. In theory it is only going to demand from Sanchez the kind of play that was demanded of him when he first came into the league. We'll see. It's going to be a fun ride.

Well...he did a shitty job managing the cap for 2016....lost 2 quality defensive starters and his future QB and STILL left them without enough for an adequate QB replacement...in a year where Miller is due...and blew 5 million on Stephenson.

I'm sure he thought he was taking it to the Chiefs on that signing....yikes. Had he not signed Sanchez/Stephenson...he probably could have landed Kap. Not that he is any prize but might have been a serviceable placeholder in the boot-leg system.

At any rate...you know the o-line is desperate when throw that kind of money at a below mediocre RT. I'm still trying to figure that one out....Chief fans are glad he is gone and replaced with the best RT in the league.

I love how the Osweiler narrative has changes since he left for Houston. Before that, when he was a Bronco, KC fans said he sucked and that he was never going to amount to anything. If you want put the label of "blind luck" on the thing that Denver has year in and year out, and KC doesn't have year in and year out, which leads Denver to compete for and sometimes win championships, and KC never to do that, then I guess I will have to be content with my team having a nearly unbroken string of blind luck for the past few decades.

The Chiefs have been one of the luckier teams in the league the past few seasons. If a starting QB gets injured, it's almost a guarantee the Chiefs are going to play them the following week.
