Big Props to the Yeti. Great Divide is an amazing brewery. Me, on the the other hand, I've had 3 drinks at Whole Foods. 2 imperial stouts at home, 2 Tank 7's. 2 Crown Apple shots (because I was with women). And now I'm on my 3rd Heavy Lifting. This is a light night for me. Usually, when I drink, I go all out. I'm one of those all or nothing drinkers. I have a hard time having 1 or 2 beers with dinner. If I have 1, I'm having 12. otherwise I'll have zero. |

After the Yeti, I had a Odell Jolly Russian, and the Yeti really brought out the sweetness/malt of the Jolly Russian.... Colorado beer night, apparently. |

But you're right. The next 3 months are limited outdoor time unless it involves a pool here. We will be getting up north a bit to escape this heat. |

And the humidity in KC has already started to bug me, and it wasn't even that warm there... LMAO |

Pool side with some bourbon and cigar. Water is perfect tonight.

Tito's... A day on the lake/SeaDoo deserves a drink...
(No, I don't drink and SeaDoo) |

I'll bring the cigars and beer next time. :D |
Enjoying a Russels Reserve I scored today at 20 bucks. I found it in a liquor store near my house was a bargain cheapest id ever seen it 26 bucks. Its a nice little bourbon with a peppery cinnamon finish that ends a bit quicker than you wish.
|
What's the proof on your Russel's Reserve? When it first came out it was 100 proof, but they dropped it to 90 for a long time. I've always liked it, and $20 is a danged fine buy

Heading to San Francisco for the week for work. What are some iconic beers I need to try while out there that aren't available in the Midwest (I have access to stuff you can get in Missouri)? Russian River is one of my tops.

Drinking on some Woodford Reserve rye that I got as a gift. I like it enough and not familiar enough with ryes to know...seems kinda harsh for a decent whiskey. Flavor is there though.

Wife gave me bottle of this last night, its been several years since I had it. Good stuff. |
A local restaurant down the street got stuck with an extra large bottle by error and no one orders it so they put it on special for $5 a drink to get rid of it! A really healthy pour as well.
Happy birthday to me! https://img.thewhiskyexchange.com/540/gmgob.10yov21.jpg |

7&7's hammered out 7 acres of mowing.
When I started I was looking for a way to make it go faster. After a while I was searching for more grass to mow. |
Cheap vodka and diet tonic, fresh limes. It's only Thursday.
|
One of my favorite pours. And getting to watch my football team on TV. Good night.

I had a nice little six pack of Sierra Nevada Tropical IPA. Following up with Busch Light. We will see if I make it to the whiskey.

I'll start with high proof bourbon with one hand on my testicles though, so I get my testosterone flowing before the Zima kills it. |
Zima is one of the worst drinks I've ever had. Tried one last year when it came back. Drank a couple sips and couldn't finish it.

Did some early morning drinking yesterday at a place here in Old Town Scottsdale called the "Coach House". They open at 6am but I got there around 9:30 am to watch some golf. Had a few Lagunitas IPA's and a few shots of Jameson.
https://www.yelp.com/biz/coach-house-scottsdale Started my day with a buzz ROFL Then went to Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix for a great meal (posted in what you had for dinner thread) |

If I start, I don't really stop until it's bed time, so I definitely avoid morning drinking personally. |
Oh yeah.. I forgot I had bought some ginger beer the other day.. sounds like Moscow Mules ...
You know what is good.. is adding some more ginger flavor into the moscow mule with the addition of some Domaine de Canton, a french ginger liqeuor. |

So I got on a vip list somehow with one of the big liquor store owners here and get emails about select stuff.
He’s got some whistle pig boss hog black label. Anyone had it? |
Quote:
Love them though. Easy, delicious and none of that sugary shit. Let’s the floral notes of the tequila shine. |
Also I’ll throw some of the stuff up here and if anyone is interested I can ship it?
|
Quote:
If you’ve got some money to burn though, I’d snag a bottle. |

For the record, I haven’t had it. But most whistle pig stuff is decent but over priced. Find some 4 roses Al Young. Or George T Stagg if you wanna spend but get great stuff. |
Quote:
He’s got some Jefferson’s ocean aged stuff that I sampled that was fantastic and Elijah Craig small batch barrel proof that’s suppos fly legit |
Quote:
The small batch barrel proof of Elijah Craig is top notch. Buy that one. |
I’m drinking a blackberry old fashioned:
Muddle 5-6 blackberries in a glass Add 3-4 dashes bitters .75 ounce sage simple syrup* 1.5 ounces high quality bourbon (Buffalo Trace or Knob Creek are my favorites) Mix Add ice to the brim Sage simple syrup: 7-8 sage leaves; 1 Cup sugar (white is fine but sugar in the raw is better); 1 Cup water. Combine all agreements in small sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Stir. Turn off stove and let sit for at least 30minutes. Strain into container Found the recipe online some time ago and really enjoy it in the summer Quite refreshing |
Was diving with the younger son all weekend so not much drinking. We ended up at this place called Sparky's in Eureka Springs and they gave me the first Sailor Jerry's and diet Dr. Pepper I've had in quite a while and it was awesome. So we're the ribs. T'was a great weekend.

I felt like I cut down on buying booze in the past 6 months but occasionally get a bottle of something here and there. We aren't boozing in the pool as much since our son has been born and I'm back up to 60 some-odd bottles in the bar. I like being able to make random drinks here and there so we have quite the assortment, although about 25 bottles are bourbon/whiskey.
Can't recall if I shared this but another very simple drink recipe, this one for Gin lovers. Called a Dragon Fly 2 oz Gin 4 oz ginger ale juice from 1 lime Nice summer drink instead of always going with the traditional gin and tonic. Enjoy! https://i.imgur.com/xkZHFapl.jpg |
