Andy Reid looking at 3-year deal, limited personnel power The reports coming out off the desert are beginning to overlap, another sign former Eagles head coach Andy Reid is close to taking the Arizona Cardinals job. Reid is slated to formally interview with the Cardinals Thursday. But that sounds like a formality. Media reports are talking about a three-year deal for Reid, with an option for a fourth, that averages $4 million. Include the $6 million offset owed Reid on the last year of his Eagles contract and the average for three years is around $6 million a year. It's hard to believe Reid would accept a job without full control over personnel, but that's been reported. If Reid can get defensive coordinator Ray Horton to stick around it would be a coup. Horton interviewed for the Arizona head coaching job and is supposed to meet with other teams. |

I am very lukewarm re: an Andy Reid regime unless Jim Johnson's rising from the dead to come w/ him.

Well, comparing Reid to Marty is not surprising. He did compare Geno to Sanchez. LMAO

Clark's gonna look like a real asshole if after all that talk he hires some puppet to be the HC.
|
To the dumbasses who don't want Reid, let me ask you this: who the **** else are we going to get that would be a good hire?

You know your franchise is in bad shape when the Cardinals job, with Bidwell as an owner, is a better option...ROFL

If Clark let him get away, then that's pretty much that.

Clark ...."well I interviewed all of these options, but the best man to save me some money on the gM.....errr I mean lead the chiefs is *insert right 53 nut huggers name here*"

Actually, he might be able to play at that level till he's 40. Problem is that His cap number gets exceedingly hard to pay for one player, and they aren't going to restructure it for a guy when he's 38. Not to mention, Demarius Thomas will be needing a new contract as a "premier" WR thanks to Manning, as will Decker. Manning has health stipulations in his contract, and if he passes a physical after next year, he's guaranteed the remainder of the contract. No way Denver pays a 38 year old 60 million guaranteed dollars. He was brought in to win a super bowl or two in three years, and that is what he'll get, three years. |

Clark went to Philly. Do you honestly think Reid was going to have a contract written up at his house or something? |
Stimulating some topic here, it's Wednesday afternoon, we need some fire going.

Doesn't mean he's not going to hear as many offers as possible. |
Here is your Manning contract, just so you understand why he won't be playing there in 5 years. Denver can opt out anytime, and each year is guaranteed, with NO SIGNING BONUS. So, when they have a SB or two, and/or realize he isn't gonna get them there, he is gone. In all likelihood, that is when they have to pony up the next bigtime contract on either Dumerville, Miller, Thomas, or Decker.
There is a reason New England won three superbowls, but none lately. It's simply too hard to keep all the playmakers these days. |

So whats likely to happen next? Reid goes to Phoenix, hears what they have to offer, calls Clark up and says here's what it is?

Now they're talking about Andy Reid basically being a bad human being and not much of a "real man" because he's gonna coach football instead taking care of his family.
They think Clark interviewing Andy Reid is like a sideshow circus attraction. Keitzman is saying he shouldn't even be a candidate. And they're talking about the "7 man dog and pony" show in Atlanta. Clinkscale said the Chiefs are a 3-ring circus. |

Keitzman just said give Nick Saban $10-15M per year and full control over the entire operation.

So regardless of who we interview I don't expect any immediate decisions\acceptance of contracts without Pioli's gig being decided once and for all. |

With the new HC having final say on Pioli, I figure we will hear about that before anything on Pioli.

I'm not sure what clark has done these past few days (aside from not firing Pioli) that warrants any criticism. |
Now they're speculating that Pioli is being retained because Clark doesn't want him to turn coat during the trials on the age discrimination lawsuits.

I'm turning this off. So ridiculous. And part of the reason this fanbase is so reeruned - they actually BELIEVE this shit. |
The angst of 810 is that Pioli hasn't been fired, they thought it was for sure going to happen. Most on this board agree with that, not that I would try to defend the morons on 810 or anything...

810 was also saying that the Cards are a more attractive opportunity than the Chiefs. Which I don't agree with assuming Pioli us shewed the door one way or the other.
|
I too have shut it off.
