The crazy thing is they acted like they had NO ****ING CLUE who CB2 was until the middle of the first real game this year.

Josh Williams played really well. He should have gotten a shot to begin with. Williams was targeted 3 times and allowed 0 catches. He was the best CB on Friday if Pro Football Reference's advanced defensive stats are correct.

On the season, Josh Williams has played 146 coverage snaps. He’s been targeted 13 times and has only allowed 7 receptions totaling 75 yards and a TD. I’m not entirely sure where the narrative that he hasn’t played well has come from.

Last year, he played 310 coverage snaps and was targeted 29 times snd allowed 12 receptions for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Josh Williams = Brandon Carr.

Give him his props.

He was highest for coverage on PFF I believe as well. I was saying to BossChief I think he was good last year, poor in his limited use this year. But agree he was better against the Raiders and needs to be given snaps. I'd honestly still use Nazeeh on the outside a bit to allow McDuffie more time in the slot.

Johnson's gettiny bullied but so is Connor playing SCB. Think we need it limited to 1 liability at this point even is Nazeeh keeps getting picked on.

If you actually look at the supposed "td" he allowed it was against the Bengals where Burrow had ample time to throw inside the ten yard line and Joshua wasn't the only defender in that area. So I don't put that on him tbh.

He's never really had a long run of games to fully establish himself so I think this is a great chance infront of him now. He has speed, is tall and has great length for a CB. I really think he could play at Watson's level eventually. I was looking at the snap counts from the last AFC and Superbowl games and both him and Jaylen literally played the same amount of snaps which was around 21 snaps in both games. So he's been on the field in those huge games and has that experience to lean on.

Can't trust Johnson on the outside anymore as teams are relentlessly targeting him. Better off trying him in the slot a little bit to see what he can do there.

Never understood what he did to get in the doghouse. He played very well at the end of last year. I know we basically have lost all reason to ever question these guys, but this one just never made sense. You’re trying so hard to make Johnson work even when you have a proven commodity sitting on the bench.

As soon as he came in, the pass defense got better. That’s not a coincidence.

The first couple games Watson was out Williams was struggling with penalties on special teams and then on defense. If my memory serves me correctly he had 1 game where he was flagged on special teams, flagged another 2 times on defense very quickly.

I do recall that, but I feel like he earned a little more grace based on last year’s performance. He played huge for us in the postseason, and I expect to see that again now that he’s back in.

I have to think its an attitude problem or a film watching issue. Two off-seasons ago they kept saying someone needs to step up. Then this year they kept saying they didn't know who it was going to be. Maybe he just loafs in practice and study. Because on the field he ****s up some assignments but he's pretty damn good.

O.city 12-05-2024 10:08 AM

They've shown they can draft and develop mid and later round CB's and DB's. Now, they won't all hit, but I wouldn't go running to draft guys high just because of injuries and such.

Keep drafting the best players you can and go from there.
