Played last night for the first time in 6 months. Windy as shit out. Shot a 51 on 9...which for me isn't horrible...but, I started the season with a birdie.
Drove the ball just off the fairway about 140 out. Into a strong wind, I punched a 5 iron (to keep it down) and it rolled up about 5 feet from the pin. And holy shit, I hit the putt as well. Rest of the round wasn't that good, but at least I started off with a bang. |

Thread is kinda dead.....walked ninen holesn today whilst my daughter drove the cart. She played too and ripped at least one shot.......I on the other hand did not make a single birdie. My ball strking is coming and my swing is getting loose and managable.(sp?) A golf swing can be like a race car. Loose is fast............I have to learn how to make putts......when I was a kid.....burp..never mind.

My 9-hole golf league started two weeks ago. I literally played bogey golf the first round. Made bogey on every hole. I don't ever remember having a string that long. It was definitely the bogey train. I improved on Monday and shot 39. Made my first birdie of the year on the second hole... and it was windy as hell when we started but calmed down by about the 5th hole.

Hit 150+ balls today with 50 drivers in a row. Went to a great swing thought because I was flailing at it a little. Good swing thought while hitting drivers is think "take it half way back and hit it half as hard as normal." Of course you'll end up taking it further back then half way and you'll end up hitting it harder then half. You should end up just smokin' it. The great thing about this is it's not a mechanical thought. Try it! Half way back and half as hard!

Sounds like a good swing thought, I'll try it tomorrow. I try to think, swing easy swing through. Problem is I forget that thought after a couple of holes. Then when you play in the wind like we had today, all you can think is I've got to kill it. Doesn't work.

Walked another 9 while my daughter drove the cart. I had hit 150+ balls on friday and working upper body on saturday and lower on sunday I could not turn away freely today.I really don't keep score till I've played enough for it to be my game. It was a 42 unoficially.......... It was awful in my mind but I should be looser tommorrow when I play Hickory Hills C.C. with my daddy. If I get out three times this week I should start seeing major progress.

Played 18 on Sunday at St. Andrews in Olathe from the blue tees. Pretty easy course but I liked it. Shot 78 and only three putted twice. Which is decent putting for me since I can't putt. Alot better course than I expected. #15 is a fun hole if you hit a big high wide ugly hook like me. It's like 485 yd par 5, but you can launch a huge hooked driver over the trees and be 85 yards out and cut the hole in half. No joke. Somehow I still bogeyed when I shanked two pitch shots in a row.

Played 9 yesterday (first time out) and hit the ball like complete ass. Short game was even worse. If I had been keeping score, I don't think I would have broken 50.
Went out today, caught 6 quick holes in +1. Best shot was nutting a 3 wood from 240ish over the green on a par 5 to set up a chip and putt birdie. Such is golf for me. Maddeningly inconsistent. |
BTW, Golfnow.com is pretty cool. You can get discounted tee times. I found a deal to play Tiffany Greens for like $35 w/ a cart. Of course you have to be able to play in the evening, but that is when you don't have fivesome's of old guys hibbity hobbling around and can go faster.

FWIW, as much as hitting a slice would suck, being someone who hits a hard draw is even worse when it comes to looking for equipment. I went back to Dick's in CoMo tonight and was looking hard at an FT-iQ with the tour version of the Fubuki (63g), but even that driver had a shut face.
