Of course... I wasn't comparing the two. I was comparing the Imperial Stouts with other Imperial Stouts, like Lagunitas and SA... love the malty flavor of those two, and thought the Rasputin was kind of plain in comparison.

The Organic Chocolate Stout is all chocolate.... really good stuff.

Oh, I'll be able to get Hopslam. I don't ever sweat finding beers. If I don't get six packs myself, others help me out or I can just drink it on tap, which is best anyway.

I have some good relationships with liquor store employees around town.

yes, much better on tap. doesn't last for very long at the saucer.
wish I had somebody to hook me up with some hopslam.

Good Choice. Hadn't ever tried it until I went to New Belgium this past August and I couldn't get enough of it.

Also, though Hopslam is highly sought after, I'm a little more excited this year about Bell's releasing their Black Note stout in 4 packs and KC will actually see some of it.

Definitely have my eye out for this...

Had a Founders 2011 Kentucky Breakfast Stout at Waldo Pizza tonight. Wow. So, so delicious.

Had Mothers Holy Mole tonight. Ummmm, pass.

phisherman 01-12-2013 11:50 PM

Ska's Mole Stout has been the only mole beer that I've liked in a long time.

Sorry if these have been mentioned before. If you're talking about beers to try, Great Lakes has some ridiculously good ones. The Christmas Ale is usually in limited stock and people go nuts about it, especially if you sprinkle a little cinnamon on it.

Went to the Beir Station last night in Waldo. Tried the Green Flash Imperial IPA, was delicious. It's a brewery from San Diego, maybe Buck can tell us more about it, I haven't heard of it.

But the Beir Station, it's half bar, half liquor store. They have a wall of coolers, with a great selection, actually great doesn't even do it justice. If you're a beer lover, this place was made for you. You can buy 6 packs or single bottles, you can take them with you or take them to the bar and they pour it for you.

Forgive me if it's not a new concept, but I was pretty blown away by the place.

Just overrun with hipsters though, so be warned.

They poached the beer manager from Royal Liquors, Brad. Really good beer selection, especially on their taps.

Green Flash has some very fine beers; their Rayon Vert is one of my favorites.

Have a Rasputin recipe fermenting in the basement - with some coffee added and also some lactose. More of a Rasputin coffee milk stout. OG = 1.094

phisherman 01-19-2013 10:15 AM

Oh, also, tried the Lugene milk chocolate stout by Odell last night. Delicious.
