But he's NOT the sports section. He's an occasional columnist who's doing less and less work for the Star. He's a great writer. |

Of course Posnanski he is not. He is a beat writer. Quote:
"Sports Daily won top-10 honors for its Sunday sections and special sections. The Star also led all big-circulation newspapers in 2006 with seven top-10 finishes in the contest’s writing categories." I don't really give that much of a shit about the Star but it is funny to hear people bitch and moan about the beat writing. They are dependent on the Chiefs organization. Who isn't all that information friendly. So which way do CPers prefer to slam them because they will be able to either way. Either they pass on what they can confirm from the organization or they could go on unnamed sources and rumors that may or may not pan out because that is the nature of the process. But what do I know THEY ARE THE WORSTEST IN THE HISTORY OF WRITING!!! |

In any case, papers are dying everywhere, the Star hasn't cornered the market on that. Just the way of things. |

I 100% know the guy makes up stuff. He made up stuff to ME PERSONALLY. Why should I believe he's any different now? |

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
This thread is like climbing Everest. I read 12 pages to get to 54, then the ****er is at 58, now it will be at 60 by the time I post this, and the worst part is its like some weird universe where every post is repeated every 6 pages, really it is. Its like scaling Everest and being 100 feet from the peak, but a cloud bank blocks your view, as you climb through it you find yourself halfway up the ****ing mountain. Will somebody at the peak throw a large rock at me from up there? This shit is getting reeruned :( Im grouchy and want a new GM right NAO! |

But I just don't see how the Star is nationally recognized when they don't break any stories and more to the point, the teams they cover certainly aren't newsworthy on a national scale. I like both Whitlock and Posnanski's columns and always have. But they aren't "journalists" per se, they editorialize and comment, which is far different than actual sports reporting. And yes, JoPo's writing for SI has been great. |
