All the leaks are coming from the New England/Cleveland side of the story.

I used to post on the Royals board over there, and the stuff Athan made about baseball was even lamer. He was getting laughed at over there, and those guys didn't even know his reputation. The funniest one I remember was that the Royals were close to acquiring Alex Rodriguez.

ROFL

That was an epic fail and it still gets brought up in damn near every trade thread.

How much credit does Teicher get nationally? How many awards?

Posnanski he's not.

Beat writing is a thankless job.

Not to bust your balls, Zach but from whom?

Posnanski's been writing for SI and Whitlock for AOL and now Fox Sports.

But the KC Star Sports section getting national acclaim?

They don't break any stories of nationwide interest (i.e. the SF Chronicles and the Balco scandal), they don't cover high-profile teams like the Lakers, Dodgers, Mets, Giants or Yankees (let alone the Cubs or Red Sox) and their beat writers (like Teicher) flat-out suck.

Especially when you suck at it (not you personally)

X is always the worst at X without any doubt.

It is stupid and makes the user seem like all they want to do is hear themselves bitch.

Maybe the Star gets points for layout or something, but overall, the writing is horrible.

Other than JoPo, the STL-PD blows the Star out of the water when it comes to writing.

Rick Hummel is in the Baseball HOF, and Bernie Miklasz and Bryan Burwell is as good as it gets for a small market fish-wrap. Jim Thomas is one of the highest regarded beat writers in the NFL. He makes Teicher look like a 5th grade essay writer to win a contest for free Monster Truck tickets.

I think Zach is probably talking about Poz and Whitlock.

Tell that to John Clayton or Len Pasquarelli or even Christopher Price.

Posnanski's been AP Sports Columnist of the Year I believe twice.

Posnanski is regarded as one of the best baseball guys in the country. I agree though that the Star's overall coverage is lame, but who reads the newspaper nowadays anyway?

I was sad to see him go. Glad he's doing well, but I have zero interest in the NBA so I've not read anything of his in well over a year now. Still, I think he was my favorite member of the Star's staff in the last 10 years.
