This isn't complicated, look at the PPV card. If you are a UFC fan, this is one of the PPV's you'll watch this year. The prelims are a bit light (but I've seen worse), but every fight on the PPV is very good. The only thing that makes it tricky is that this is the first PPV that can only be bought on ESPN+, but it isn't that hard. If you can't figure it out in this day and age of streaming, well then I'm sorry but you are just an idiot.

2am - (Fightpass) - Pancrase 304

Its Pancrase, so its probably not good, and its on in the middle of the night.

Adesanya needs to be headlining main events on cards like these.

He's the next big name in the game.

I love PPV but I'm not paying 80 for it

Gastelum's a tough matchup. If Stylebender takes him out, then he's gonna take off like a rocket in the UFC.

Reminder that there is a deal out there if this is what gets you to buy ESPN+. 1 year plus a PPV for $80, which saves you about $40 assuming you were getting the year anyway. Otherwise, you could get a month, get the PPV, and cancel ESPN+ next month for about $65

The main event is kinda interesting. We also have a ranked strawweight fight. Aside from that, nothing but unranked prospects and unranked Russians. This card is awful, but its not for us, the UFC is pitching this to Russian fans. There may be fun fights on it anyway, who knows.

I just booked airfare and hotel for UFC 239 in Vegas for my son, brother, dad, and me. My dad is 77 and had never even been on an airplane before. This will be a great time for three generations of us! Stoked!!

Now I just gotta buy tickets as soon as they go on sale.

This weekend Bellator and the UFC goes head to head with cards that are both not bad.

Top promotion in Europe, this isn't a bad card for a local promotion.

The prelims are on TV, but the main card is on ESPN+ Sounds weird? Several cards will be like that this year as ESPN's schedule was already packed when they signed their TV deal. They did try to pack the card though, 4 of the prelims look pretty good, and the main card does as well. Not great or terrible, just pretty good on paper from beginning to end.

9pm - (DAZN) - Bellator 220, MacDonald vs. Fitch

This is a good Bellator card with 2 championship fights and a match in their Welterweight Grand Prix, but I'm not watching it because its on DAZN, and I'm already paying too much for MMA.

Looks like Stipe has successfully waited out the UFC for a title rematch.

7pm - (Fightpass) - Invicta: Phoenix Rising 1

So, Invicta is doing something Friday night in Kansas City that I normally do not like, but it probably works in this case since its a small weight division, strawweight in this case. They are having an 8-woman single elimination one-day tournament. These are normally not fair because someone with 2 quick KO's might be facing someone who fought 30 grueling minutes, but in this case no one is getting knocked out, so maybe its fine. I'm not sure if the winner is getting the title, I assume so.

10pm - (Fightpass) - Friday Night Fights

This promotion is very small and usually has guys who are unheard of or very low ranked.

3pm - (ESPN+) - UFC Fight Night, Iaquinta vs Cowboy

Well, all right then. Thats a cool main event. The main card (beginning 7pm) has 3 or 4 decent fights, but the prelims are a bit light. The main event should start sometime after 9:30pm if thats all you care about.

Sunday

7:15 am - (Fightpass) - World Lethwei Championship 8

So, I looked up Lethwei, and it is a Burmese form of kickboxing. Specifically, it is bare knuckle Muay Thai kickboxing with one very big exception: headbutts are not only legal, they are encouraged. Well, ok that sounds kind of nuts. Anyway, thats on Sunday morning.

So they offered Brock PPV points and he's smart enough to see through that and just asked for $10 mil or whatever up front. I wonder if he has a UFC contract or if he could just go to Bellator or One FC. I'm sure DAZN wouldn't mind having Brock on one of the Bellator show.

He probably has a WWE contract that allows him to flirt with the UFC. Even if he could talk to Bellator or OneFC (which maybe he cant), there's no way in hell they could offer him the money he'd likely want.

Too busy to put up my usual schedule, but there is a UFC PPV tomorrow in Brazil that is full of old Brazilian legends, so its good even though the main event may look lackluster to some people. (the main event should be pretty good as well).

I cant believe that the UFC actually gave him a 4 fight contract at the end of last year. The guy hasn't won a fight in 8 years and watching him "fight" now is embarrassing.

Quick note on the UFC main event, a head spike is illegal in MMA, but there is an exception which applied. If you are going for a submission, then the opponent is allowed to spike you to get out of the sub. When Rose refused to let go of the kimura, she allowed Jessica to do whatever she had to do to get out.

Once again, we have an OK UFC card during a weekend where we don't have much else going on in MMA.

The card overall isn't great, but at least they did manage to spread out what they did have. The prelims are not bad, and thats also how I would describe the main card, its "not bad".

This is a very cool card. There is one decent fight on the early prelims, and after that literally every single fight on the prelims and on the main PPV card is interesting for one reason or another. The main card ends with a bang, with Cowboy Cerrone vs Tony Ferguson, followed by the women's flyweight championship and the men's vacant bantamweight championship, with Cejudo trying to get a 2nd belt.

Shevchenko just about kicked Jessica Eye's head off with the most brutal head kick KO I've ever seen. She was on the mat for a full 2 or 3 minutes, asking if she was knocked out when she finally woke up.

An Englishman who had the most entertaining fight of the night lost a chance at a UFC contract in the final 10 seconds. He had his opponent hurt and instead of fighting to the bell to try to get a KO, he did a double leg and wrestled the last 10 seconds, which pissed Dana off. He then used him as an example to fighters in future episodes. If you don't risk a fluke last second KO in a fight you were dominating, you won't get in. Somewhere I'm sure TKZ nodded in approval.

This is clever. Olivier Aubin-Mercier and his coach paid a professional MMA handicapper (one of those Vegas experts who specializes in gambling on MMA for a living) to give them a scouting report on his next opponent.

The sharp handed them back a report that was 5 pages long, and they were shocked at how detailed it was, with many things about his opponent that they hadn't noticed in their own research.

That is pretty interesting! It'll probably become the norm soon.

There were some fantastic fights tonight, once DC started taking those hard hooks to the liver it was over. Diaz Pettis was bad ass but Romero Costa was the fight of the card

I really like DC, but some of the shit he was saying this week made rooting for Stipe easy. I am a Stipe fan and have been since his first fight in the UFC, but I was torn during the first fight because I really like DC.

Stipe defended the belt more consecutive times than any heavyweight ever, and DC said he acted like a baby by not fighting until he got the rematch. That's just ridiculous. If you have held the belt longer than anyone in the history of the UFC, you deserve an immediate rematch. And DC, and frankly most of the media, kept talking about what would be DC's next fight, kinda like him beating Stipe was a foregone conclusion.

I am thrilled that Stipe won. Diaz looked great after a long layoff. And Romero vs Costa was possibly the most obvious PED User versus PED User fight in UFC history.

I cant see DC stepping back into the octagon unless its Jones 3 because I don't see Miocic vs DC 3 ever happening, especially not in the immediate future. If the UFC wasn't willing to give Miocic an immediate rematch after their first fight until 2 other options didn't work out then it's hard for me to believe that DC defending one time against Derrick Lewis being enough.

It's Jones or bust imo, and I dont think his family is going to be eager to watch him get murdered again so it's probably retirement. When I saw him taking off his gloves last night I thought he was going to leave them in the octagon and call it.
