Uhh... Poirier vs Diaz is now off.
If Ferguson comes in to "save the day" on the MSG card for the LW interim title against Diaz.... that'd just be perfect, right? OK, thats just a little too freaky, I hope Poirier legit got injured and that he didn't get smacked on the knee by a mysterious UFC employee with a lead pipe. https://twitter.com/bokamotoESPN/sta...34626007490560 |
Why doesn't Brock Lesnar just get roided up and fight everyone?

Just a quick reminder, the semifinals for Bellator's Heavyweight Grand Prix is this weekend on Paramount. Mitrione vs. Bader tonight, Fedor vs. Sonnen tomorrow night.
Also tonight, the co-main is a trashweight fight between Roy Nelson and some Russian I never heard of before. |

The co-main and main events will probably start around 9 or 9:30pm tonight. The other fights aren't worth going out of your way to watch unless you have nothing else to do. Tomorrow night's card will be better and probably worth watching when it airs at 8pm. |

Khabib's team jumped the cage and was going after him, are you ****ing serious? As Chael Sonnen said, if you wait for the other guy to throw the first punch in that situation when they are obviously going after you, then you are just a sucker. Khabib's team wasn't supposed to be there, as soon as they jumped in, Conor obviously had to assume they were going to attack him. |

For those who may have missed the fight last night, Bader crushed Mitrione with a very lopsided decision. He won every round, got 2 10-8's from 2 judges, and 3 10-8's from the 3rd judge. The more fun and interesting fight card is tonight.

That Copeland fellow knocked that poor fool clean out.

Fedor vs. Sonnen coming up next!

Fedor is still a beast

I will say this for Sonnen: he gave it everything he had. But, in this tournament, he's just a middleweight trying to fight heavyweights.

We only have the PFL this week for decent MMA on TV.
Saturday noon - (Fightpass) - Glory 60 Kickboxing 3pm - (Fightpass) - Cage Warriors 98 Top MMA B-League in Europe, this card is about average for them 6pm - (NBCSN) - PFL 2018 #10 Middleweight and Welterweight playoffs. 2:15am Sunday - (Fightpass) - Pancrase 300 Really, really bad MMA in the middle of the night |
Luke Rockhold is out of UFC 230. Rumor is they might pull Jacare from his current fight and run Weidman vs Jacare.

There's nothing on fightpass, but the UFC returns this week from Canada. There is literally no other MMA other than foreign PPV's at odd times and streams of very small shows.
Friday nothing Saturday 7pm TV - (5:30pm Fightpass/7pm FS1) - UFC Fight Night, Volkan vs. Smith The prelims are not very good at all, so you may want to watch college football and wait until 9pm for the main card, which is pretty decent, at least about average. Its not that the main event is compelling (its not), but all 6 fights on the card fall into "huh, I've heard of that guy" or "oh, not bad". So we've got 6's and 7's for the whole thing instead of a bunch of crap followed by a great main event. Also, Conor's buddy (who would have been cut a LONG time ago if he was just some random russian) is in the co-main if you care. |
UFC and ONE FC are close to completing the first "trade" in MMA history.
Cejudo also wants to move up to 135, so it looks like the UFC is going to shut down the flyweight division.

Breaking: UFC, ONE Championship close to trade involving Demetrious Johnson and Ben Askren. At least the Ben Askren fans can stop whining now about how he's really the best welterweight in the world. We'll find out.
|
ONE FC has also signed Eddie Alvarez. So, maybe they are trying to break into the US market? That will be hard because the time zone difference is rough.

This looks like a win-win-win-win for all 4 sides.
Askren had retired and flat-out said he wouldn't fight again unless he was in the UFC. DJ is gonna get PAID if he wins the ONE title, they like smaller fighters in Asia and ONE will promote him. The UFC wanted to close the Flyweight division for a while, and they now have a new highly-anticipated WW contender. ONE gets rid of the malcontent who didn't want to fight for them anymore and gets a new star they can build around. edit: DJ's coach is apparently a VP at ONE FC. |
Can I Askren drop to 155?
I would pay ANYTHING to see him vs Khabib. |

All right then, UFC 230 is this weekend, and there's nothing else from any major promotion. So, as usual, we need to see if this is a top-heavy card or if its reasonably stacked...
Friday 6:30pm - (Fightpass) - Glory 61 Kickboxing Saturday 7pm TV - (5:15 pm Fightpass/7pm FS1/9pm PPV) - UFC 230, Cormier vs. Lewis OK then, so the main event is obviously very interesting. Cormier is going to be the heavy favorite and have a lot more cardio, and he'll definitely win if it gets to the championship rounds because the black beast gasses out horribly, but.... can he get that early shocking knockout?!? Maybe! Thats why we watch this stupid sport. Anyway, the rest of the main card is pretty good. Its not incredible, but it IS pretty good, of the other 4 fights, two of them are going to be very critical to the future of their weight classes. Then you look at the prelims and you think...... eh. Yuck. Actually, the prelims are really bad, even for a card where you think the UFC is top-loading it, the undercard is not great at all. They usually give you at least one good fight, but I do not care about any of these prelims at all, not even the feature prelim. So, the PPV is pretty good, but the prelims are crap. I'm an addicted fight fan so I'll watch all of this shit, but you should probably only think about watching the PPV and figure out something else to do with your free time before 9pm central. edit: in case its not clear, the other "good" fights in the PPV are the first fight and the co-main. The other two fights before the co-main are just whatever. |
This fight is going as expected so far.
|
I'm not watching it...what's going on.

Pretty sweet fights on free TV this weekend. The UFC is making a big deal about their 25th anniversary in the city where they started, and they definitely delivered.
Friday 9pm - (Fightpass) - Friday Night Fights Muay Thai Saturday 7pm TV - (5:30pm Fightpass/7pm FS1) - UFC Fight Night, The Korean Zombie vs. Rodriguez The prelims are pretty good, and the last four fights on the main card are great. Hell, Cowboy is only the co-main. The Korean Zombie is finally back after almost 2 years following a bad injury, which was a real shame because he is very fun to watch. Yair Rodriguez will have the challenge on short notice of trying to kill this undead monster who walks right through chin shots like they were nothing. |

The UFC is eliminating the entire Men's Flyweight division. Some will be given a chance to move up to 135, while the rest will be released.
|
All right, my 2 favorite fighters (Cowboy and the Korean Zombie) are both up tonight. This should be fun.
|
Don't see instant replay in the UFC very often.
|
Yeah, that was egregious. That ref clearly and obviously ****ed up in that fight.
**** that guy, mistakes happen, refs can and will blow calls in fights, but during that replay he was only interested in desperately convincing the Colorado AC that his call was right when he obviously blew it. If your ego is too big to admit to a mistake on replay, then you should not be a UFC ref. |
Korean Zombie is looking really, really good.
|
Goddamn, Korean Zombie's fights are so ****ing fun to watch. I wish he was able to stay healthy.

Got a couple of fun UFC fights this weekend, and in other news UFC.com completely redesigned their web site, which is going to take a while to get used to.
Friday 7pm - (Fightpass) - Invicta FC 32, Spencer vs. Sorenson Usually with Invicta you know what you are going to get, a bunch of newcomers and maybe a couple top prospects. This card is one of the exceptions, this card is fantastic by Invicta's very high standards. All 4 fighters in the last two fights are top prospects who are probably close to the UFC, and below that you have several other legit prospects and ex-UFC fighters. Saturday 3pm - (Fightpass) - Cage Warriors 99, Webb vs. Radcliffe This is the top B-level promotion in Europe, but this particular card is pretty bad. You should probably watch college football instead. 7pm TV - (6pm Fightpass/7pm FS1) - UFC Fight Night, Magny vs. Ponzinibbio The main card is pretty good, with a great final two fights. Darren "the Damage" Elkines and Neil Magny are both fun to watch, so you'll at least want to tune in for the end. The prelims.... not so much, its all prospects and guys you probably never heard of. |
Wow.... they really need to cancel this fight. Its not just that she missed weight by 2 full pounds, but she was a zombie who could barely walk and stand.

Weight cutting is the ****ing worst...
|
Its a shame because Cynthia is one of the few strawweights who is kinda fun to watch, but yeah. Its the 2nd time she missed weight that I remember, and this one was egregiously bad. She either needs to hire a nutritionist or go up to 125.
She's only 5'4" though, so its probably bad eating habits. She needs to be more disciplined and stay closer to wait during the offseason. |
2nd domestic violence incident we've had this year. This time, the fighter was hospitalized with a broken orbital bone and her fight in January is probably off.
