Not really condoning what Khabib did but you reap what you sow.....talking shit about someone's family, religion, country, etc. is fine and dandy until you run into someone who doesn't play that shit...

Dana White said that Khabib took off already. Also said that Conor was still there in his locker room and that both fighters had their paychecks withheld until the NSAC does an investigation.

Las Vegas police arrested the two guys from Khabib's team who went after Conor, but Conor told the police that he did not want to press charges, so they just let them go.

They might have trouble getting a visa in the future, and there's no way they are cornering Khabib again in Nevada.

alnorth 10-07-2018 09:25 AM

Regarding the fight itself, it was a great, entertaining fight. Those who were bored probably haven't watched enough MMA to know what they were seeing, which is fine, that would have been me too about 5 years ago.

There's a difference between wrestlers who lay and pray, and don't do much to advance their position, and wrestlers who are constantly working to advance and beat the hell out of their opponent when they get into a dominant position.

The reason why it stalled out a bit early in the fight was because Conor's defensive wrestling was actually not bad at all, Khabib couldn't advance as easily as he usually does because Conor had obviously been working hard to prepare and his ground game isn't quite as bad as we thought. By the 4th round, Conor was too tired to stop Khabib, and that was it.

It was an awesome fight. Khabib just totally out classed Conor in the fight. He had absolutely no chance. I don't like watching fights where guys just lay on top of each other, but with Khabib it is different. He is constantly trying to move and get in position to do damage and like always he did what he was trying. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch, but if there is a rematch it's going to end the same way this one did. Khabib is just so much better. I text a buddy who was watching and he tried saying something was wrong with Conor and he wasn't the same as usual. I said yeah it looked like that because he was completely out matched.

Going into the fight, my brothers and I (who have all been watching MMA for a while) believed that Conor's only chance was an early KO, and if he didn't get that then Khabib was going to hurt him. We prepared the casuals at our party, letting them know what we expected (either quick Conor win or a long Khabib beating), so they werent surprised.

Seeing Khabib actually clip Conor in the 2nd round was a big surprise for us though, no matter how much you think you know, theres still usually some kind of surprise in MMA. Khabib's hands have gotten better, but for him his hands are always just going to be a way to get his takedowns.

After the first round I think Conor was pretty well gassed and a knockout wasn't going to happen. Khabib did some good dage with his strikes. It has to suck fighting someone like him. You're so worried about getting taken to the ground where you have no chance that it leaves you vulnerable to get knocked out. Khabib is going to be hard to beat.

AFAIK Roku uses it's own in house OS and it doesn't allow for stuff like Kodi to be installed. There are work arounds like installing them on a computer and mirroring the imagine on a TV but you are probably better off switching to nvidia shield or something else that allows for the apps to be installed.

My friend went with the shield and he pays a monthly fee of like $20 for a package for all his TV which includes PPV streams.

Jerm 10-08-2018 03:21 PM

Just think it's funny how the UFC built the biggest fight it's ever had around 2 of if not the 2 shadiest characters in the entire company...par for the course for Dana White.

Let's just ignore all the inflammatory shit Conor spews for "fight promotion" and go over the shit he's pulled that actually put people in danger; had a water bottle chucking contest with Diaz where someone was hit in the back with a Monster can, jumping into the cage at Bellator and shoving a referee and trying to get at an official removing him, and the aforementioned dolly chucking incident. What's the punishment been for all this? Slaps on the wrist.

alnorth 10-09-2018 11:31 AM

The UFC is reportedly checking with Derrick Lewis to see if he wants to take a short notice championship fight next month against DC in MSG.

The UFC's MSG card had been set, but I assume they are now doing this after the fanbase took a big wet shit all over that card on social media, making it clear that it won't sell worth a damn unless they do something. (They could just simply open up the 165 division, move 170 to 175, and make the Diaz fight for the inaugural title, but the UFC doesn't want to do that.)

Mecca 10-09-2018 11:33 AM

He barely had the conditioning to go 3 rounds, much less 5. Don't think that'll change with the time he has to train.

alnorth 10-09-2018 12:11 PM

The UFC is out for the next 2 weekends and Fightpass has absolutely nothing for the first time since they started, but we've got other promotions stepping in to fill the void.

For the first time in a while, I'm actually kinda looking forward to Bellator. They are having both of their semifinal heavyweight grand prix fights this weekend.

Friday

8pm - (Paramount) - Bellator 207, Mitrione vs. Bader

This is a top-heavy card. The last two fights are going to be fun, but the rest of the card is prospects and guys I never heard of.

Saturday

8pm - (NBCSN) - PFL 9

The opening round of the PFL's playoffs in their lightweight and light heavyweight tournament. I assume you can see more fights before the TV broadcast on Facebook as usual.

8pm - (Paramount) - Bellator 208, Fedor vs. Sonnen

I would watch the PFL except..... they had the bad luck or made the bad decision to compete with what is a very good Bellator card. The last 4 fights should all be worth watching.

Dana White admitted that UFC 229 will not break 3 million buys, but it will break their record and go well over 2 million buys.

He also changed his mind on possibly stripping Khabib and now says that it absolutely will not happen. He thinks Khabib ought to be suspended between 4 and 6 months, and get a $250K fine.

I think they still want to do DC vs Brock for mega-$$$, and that would be harder to sell if DC loses to Jon Jones first. Brock Lesnar is not eligible to fight until January, and DC has repeatedly said he's retiring in March.

So, I think they are squeezing as much money out of DC as they can. Give him this easy fight, hype up the fight against Brock in January, and then win or lose maybe they can then cash out and throw him at Jon Jones in March.

They are going to probably take his LHW belt and set up a LHW championship fight between Jon Jones and some other contender (probably Gustaffson)

The UFC wants DC to end his career at HW defending that title.

Now that they have set this up as the MSG main event, the UFC is going to let Joanna have her title shot back in December.

Derrick Lewis winning the HW title on 4 weeks notice with, maybe a 2nd-round KO (his cardio is gone after 3 rounds) would be the most dumb, hilarious, and chaotic outcome imaginable.

He basically praised Conor for what he did...he's a dipshit hypocrite.

I can't stand him. I don't understand how anyone can defend this shit.

He didn't mean any of what he said the night of the fight. The UFC being blamed for inciting a riot is business ending.

But tears and rage on.

I like Cormier, but pulling for Lewis 1000%. It would be hilarious to watch the UFC scramble after something like that.

UFC wants to blow up the Cormier/Lesnar fight and put Jon Jones against Lesnar instead. If Cormier wins the Lewis fight, then they'll have him fight a bear in December.

They do realize they can just have Jones and Lesnar fight for contendership to Cormiers title, right?

Are you under the impression that Lesnar would make championship weight at LHW? Because in case you missed it Cormier didn't sound too interested in going back to LHW.

I think Lesnar wants to fight for the HW championship, I don't think he's interested in a title eliminator.

Maybe. I think he's most interested in $$$. Fighting both Jones and potentially Cormier lines his pockets quite nicely.

I dont think he needs his dance partner to help him sell PPV buys. If he fought the Black Beast, it would still make a crazy amount of money. I do agree he likes money, but he's also starting to get into legacy here, and I think he wants to be able to triumphantly return to the wrestling ring as a conquering hero, showing off his belt on a wrestling PPV for the masses.

DC: "My hand and wrist are so messed up, there's no way I could fight in December, maybe 2019."

Dana White: "How about a shitton of money and a really easy opponent?"

DC: "I'M HEALED!!! It is a MIRACLE!!!!"
