No 3-peat. Dynasty over.
No way the NFL does KC and Clark any favours now. Taylor Swift can't even save them. Embarrassing that Jackson county is chasing away the golden goose. |

If anything blame the Royals for staying during the downtown renaissance or repeatedly blowing through deadlines on this project. Hell they put out 2 renderings, one up north the other in the east village. Then a month before the freakin election they announce the Crossroads, Change the announcement that they will keep Oak St open when early voting already started, Some group that was pro "Yes" sending out a mailer to a county that's probably 60% Democrat saying how the left wants to take away your stadiums, and on the day of the election come to an agreement with the Crossroads community. Axiom Strategies should be fired into the sun |

What I heard from my friends in KC was they were upset that it seemed a plan to make game day better for the rich. All those middle class people saw the Chiefs wanted to build a road so the rich wont have to wait in line to get in and out? The middle class who have filled that stadium for decades, they can wait in line. |

Just say you are terrified of the thought of spending your money in Kansas. Be honest with the class. |

Stadium Watch 2024 -Jackson County Residents: How Are You Voting?
As for Margaritaville, that feels like one of those things that is built right before the Olympics (World Cup in this case) that turns into an abandoned location just a few years later.
|
I wonder if Jackson County waited until after the election until they revealed this news.

People bitch about the traffic leaving Arrowhead already, imagine a location at the west edge of the metro, how many fans will be willing to spend an extra 30-45 each way to an already long day? Not sure, but I'm pretty sure the game day experience will be inferior to the current, and I don't think Chiefs fans are going to spend much time in legoland after the game or populate Margaritville hotel in December. Life after PM may suck. |
Woogieman is shooooooooooook

You're right - the tailgating experience would be diminished significantly, and some people will have to drive further. If that was important, perhaps the locals should have voted in favor of keeping Arrowhead where it is. |
Quote:
About as many fans as the stadium will hold....I'm guessing about 80,000 fans would be willing. You really think they won't be selling out every game anymore? |

I'm shook at the stupidity I see...people that cavalierly dismiss the economic and entertainment impact of losing the Royals. I'm shook at the low-bar folks that only go to the legends for a throw rug and 10% off a pair of Nikes suddenly believe the Chiefs can build an entertainment district that will attract people for more than 10X a year
|
Clark is close with Jerry Jones. He’s probably talked to Jerry about moving from Irving to Arlington which is very similar to what’s happening here.
Clark wants to host a SB. He wants more fan engagement. He wants to make more money. He needs a new stadium and Legends KCK is a perfect place to do it |

And 100%, I'd go to YardHouse at Legends or even Barley's down the road before games, if not tailgating... making fun of pretty much any area in the metro over where the stadiums are located now is absurd.

What are the odds woogie is 65 years old and lives in lees summit and hasn’t been to the legends since 2010?

TSC was built in the 70s when it was envisioned that area would become desirable due to eastern sprawl especially at the intersection of 435/70. That hasn't happened and the area now is run down and industrial - enjoy local roads with no sidewalks, the views of the fellowship of Christian athletes and the hospitality at the burned down Denny's and abandoned Adams Mark. The bones of the stadiums themselves may be not be too bad but the surrounding landscape severely hampers the ability to generate revenue. Donovan was entirely correct. No real estate developer is sinking millions into apartments or offices in that area. You aren't going to get professionals and you also aren't going to get families either as it's in a weak school district.
Between increased attendance and rent from surrounding properties Downtown is far more valuable to the Royals and their ability to be consistently competitive whilst mixed use development for the Chiefs or the inclusion of things like a roof is far more justifiable at Village West because the existing development is already there to accommodate visitors. The Save the K bandwagon is going to lose either way and I suspect in 10 years time that TSC is no more. It's a relic. |

The Legends would become the football equivalent of the Braves' Battery... except less walkable.
And if you think Hunt is going to sink hundreds of millions into a facility that allows for Lot A levels of booze and food consumption that the team doesn't see a dime from.. |
Quote:
The Legends would definitely fix some of those concerns and would take away the feeling that you have to be all over the city for a place to stay, a place to drink/eat, and then a 3rd place for the game. |
Goddamn woogie, you got dominated in this thread. Maybe you should post less and save yourself the embarrassment.

This is the weirdest ****ing city I swear, OMG traffic, if you think traffic in KC is bad I emplore you to go anywhere else, drive in Houston during rush hour makes traffic here feel like a mild breeze.

It's what a lot of the baseball stadiums are doing. The team is building a 'community park' with a bunch of bars and such that they own. It's a racket, but it appears to be working out for them. |

The idea of the Chiefs in Kansas makes me want to puke.
This team deserves better than to be associated with that disgusting state. |

That's the point - people don't WANT to deal with Houston traffic trying to get through downtown KC. It's a legitimate concern. You're the most haughty goddamn communist I've ever met. |

It isn't the location of Kansas that is the problem. It's replacing the AFC's version of Soldier Field with the AlamoDome in a redneck suburban shopping complex or a yuppie suburban shopping complex. That and I'd be surprised that they retain the Chiefs moniker. |

Sterile, boring stadium. Corporate chain restaurants surrounding the place. Little to no tailgating. A severely muted atmosphere. Likely a soft rebrand of the team. Oh and everything, despite being much worse in every way, will be way more expensive. Cherish these next five years because it’s about to come to an end. Kansas and greed ruin everything. |

Jerry Jones would throw a ****ing fit if they tried to put another team in Texas...San Antonio is not a big market oh and someone already tried the threatening to move to Austin game and Austin was like uh yea we don't want a team get bent.

Is there a proposal the Royals could make that makes the Crossroads viable or do they need to come back with a new location to get something passed in Jackson County?
