Remy got his knee knocked.

Remi needs to go Iverson and take 39 shots a game
Remi listening to me as he burries the bone
Steve Woodbury interview. Nice.
That sideline reporter is not good lmao
Dajuan Harris had a great game
Officials are just shit in CBB......
KU had 13 fouls in 2nd half....Nevada...who had 3 fouls in the first few minutes... ZERO.... How does a team that had 14 fouls in the first half, end up with ZERO in the 2nd? Just garbage..... |
Quote:
But then they turned around at points in the game and called terrible ones on KU. There was no consistency either way. |
Christian Braun continues to make 2-pointers. I dont know if Ive seen this type of turn around ever on a Bill Self team. Guy went from the worst on team at twos to the best. He hung in the air on some vs Nevada. Made some tough and ones. Just insane. Still dont think sustainable for him but guy is the MVP so far. Increased his other statlines as well.
17.3 PPG 6.5 RPG 2.7 APG vs 1.8 TOs 1.5 SPG 1.4 Blocks per game 62% FG 34% 3FG 82% FT The only thing he can probably do better us shoot and make a few more threes. |

Guys like Jeff Withey made significant improvements in their time at Kansas, but I can’t remember a guy radically changing the way he plays the game like Braun. I was worried Braun was going to be Brannen Greene. Camp on the arch and wait to shoot 3’s. If he’s missing shots, he’s worthless. Braun’s aggressive driving offensive game also looks like it’s carried over to his focus on defense and the boards. |
Jalen Wilson on the other hand…
39.6% from the field 35.7% from the stripe 11.8% from 3 As impressive as Braun has been, Wilson has been equally disappointing |
Quote:
Withey was AWFUL when he first transferred, then became the one of the best defensive bigs in the country. Taylor was a non-factor (at best) and a headache (at worst) his first 3 years before becoming a great driving PG his senior year. Wasn't Malik Newman a pretty big disappointment before becoming one of the biggest reasons we went to the F4? Jeff Graves perhaps? |

Withey only played 207 minutes combined in his first two years at KU, but he was firmly behind guys like Aldrich, the Morris brothers, and TRob for that time. It's possible that he could have been good in those years if he had the opportunity but we never got the chance to see. Not quite comparable to Christian Braun's 1600 minutes in his first two years where he was completely mediocre.
Tyshawn Taylor definitely took a big jump in productivity in his final year, but he was honestly pretty good throughout his entire career (for instance, he was a starter on the 2010 KU team that may have been Self's best since the 2008 team): https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...-taylor-1.html Malik Newman is a pretty good example as far as in-season improvement. Look how good his 2nd half was: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...1/gamelog/2018 |
That 32 point, five three, 11 FT effort against Duke was epic.
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...n-braun-1.html
Braun had a .137 WS/48 and 6.3 BPM last year. He is .284 WS/48 and 13.7 BPM this year (which leads the B12 and is 8th in the NCAA). 72% on 2s compared to 45% last year. His distance shooting has stayed mostly the same, but he seemingly somehow became a completely different player over the summer with an ability to cut/drive/finish at the rim as good as anybody in the NCAA. |
Braun reminds me of a slightly shorter Sam Dekker from Wisconsin a few years back

All positive intentions to former KU and New Mexico player Gethro Muscadin... sounds like this was a bad car accident.
https://247sports.com/college/kansas...MWuhwfgJNUcs10 Former Kansas and New Mexico forward Gethro Muscadin was involved in a serious car accident Wednesday. “Please pray for Gethro Muscadin,” New Mexico coach Richard Pitino wrote. “He’s fighting for his life after a horrible car accident last night. Every prayer matters right now. So tragic and devastating.” Muscadin had played in 12 games (nine starts) for New Mexico this year after transferring from Kansas. He averaged 9.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. Muscadin had racked up two double-doubles this year. But he recently left the New Mexico program. |

As for new years day, there is also the very real possibility that I'm hungover. So, probably not going to the game.

No Remy Martin today. Shouldn’t need him.
McCormick may be the more superior in natural talent and ability but having Lightfoot in there, it seems to me anyway, makes KU a better team.
KU looks awful without Remy. This isn't particularly surprising to me.
Quote:
The surprising part is how little Braun and Agbaji have done so far. It’s pretty much all Wilson, JCL, and Lightfoot so far. |
Is this on ESPN+? I can't get it anywhere.

KU should have gone small much earlier in this game too. |
They both scored and defended better without McCormack/Lightfoot on the court that half. Maybe continue playing small in the 2nd.
Havent heard why remi is out?

Painful watching McCormack around the basket sometimes
Can we please stop forcefeeding the ball into McCormack?
Why aren’t they playing small when it was shown to work?
Agbaji hasn’t improved any part of his game whatsoever. He will not be making the NBA.
I've been impressed by GM. They came to play.
Without Remy, it is like watching last year’s team all over again. Nobody can score a basket to save their lives.
As ugly as a game can get. Hope he's back for the next one.
Meh. It's New Years Day. Move on.
Enaruna is starting to come along.
23 points and 8 rebounds today against Baylor. 19 points and 10 rebounds the previous game. Minimal playing time most of the season before those games. 5 point loss against Baylor today, shocking after a few of our top players didn’t do well, and we were only 1-14 from the 3. We might belong in the Top 3 of the Big12 after all. Big12 is going to be a grind for everyone this year. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FH9FsyEX...pg&name=medium Obviously, going into today. We got that L now. |

DMac is coming dangerously close to Cheick Diallo/Cliff Alexander territory....
His Coordination once he get the ball is for shit.... He looks like Patrick Ewing after the aliens took his talent in Space Jam.... When the offense is better running thru Mitch instead of you.....that is a clue.... |

Mitch Lightfoot to start over David McCormack
Quote:
Which is why I wanted HCBS to take early season lumps and roll with Clemence. At least we'll see him get better and hopefully by the end of the year he would be more valuable than either McCormack or Lightfoot. |

10-9 KU early vs OSU
Ugh game and start for Kansas. Wow.
This feels like watching ping pong
Haven’t scored in 6 minutes but we’re still up by 7
Really bad 7 minute stretch for KU.
It takes massive effort to go 6+ minutes without scoring against OSU.
Like you have to literally try to suck ass to accomplish this. |
Self might be making the guys run wind sprints at half
Remy has been rendered useless on this team and it's really not his fault...
Wow. Nice work Kansas.
This is the worst stretch of basketball I’ve seen any team play in years.
12 -0 run by OSU.
OSU is trash. Yet they are out hustling and playing Kansas. |
2013 @ TCU all over again so far.
I expect a Topeka YMCA reference from Self. |
