Out of Bolton/Reid/Smith, I figured Trey Smith would be the least likely to return.

Nate Taylor just now says there’s growing optimism they’ll reach a 5-year deal with Smith before the tampering period begins.
Oh boy.. |

Let's see what it comes in at...if that's what Veach decides to do. |

He's a FA in a year the cap jumped up dramatically and he's the best one on the market. We should have gotten this done long before now if we were gonna' do it. |

I know they tried last offseason to get something done but Hunt knew these cap jumps were coming. Problem is I'm sure his agent did as well. |
Listening to Veach’s presser today pretty clear he loves DL and CB early in this draft and RB throughout.
If you sign Smith and invest in LT also, it would kinda line up with that potential draft strategy. Trying to read between the lines a little. |

They're going after LT in free agency. Only question at this point is which one. Really doesn't bode well for either Morris or Suamataia either. Best case scenario one of them is taking over for Thuney in 2026(if he doesn't get extended too) and one of them probably won't find a spot.

I don't believe it. Just trying to be nice to Trey Smith. |
I can't say I understand what they're planning here with Suamataia in particular. They put him out there to start as a rookie, he expectedly struggles, so you swing to the opposite extreme and redshirt his sophomore season before camp even begins? There's nowhere for him to even compete for a job now, unless Veach is just completely bluffing on his plans at LT.

Honestly that would be good bc without Omenihu the defense struggled at his position…which you can’t say about…another Chiefs FA on the defensive side of the ball… |
