That would make the decision for my ass.

You get much past the bottom end jobs, everybody is at least paying attention. Nobody is blindly loyal in 2021.

Hell I work for myself and periodically I'll run the math on pulling the chute on my operation and working for not Buehler445.

Yeah, when I started with the company it was US owned and had a real family atmosphere. It was bought by Fiat and has slowly went downhill since. The only reason I've stayed is I have a good job and my direct bosses (yes, I have more than one) pretty much leave me alone to run my plant as long as it performs well. Italians are ****ing weird. Loyalty is really important to them and I've seen too many colleagues end up getting let go after word got out they were looking at other opportunities.

That all being said, I've made up my mind. I'm going to call the company in Pella this afternoon and tell them I will accept the offer with a couple of changes. I want one Friday each month off (I will take conference calls and Teams meetings from my truck) and I'm going to ask for an extra week of PTO per year. If they agree to these changes to their offer, I will be moving to Iowa soon.

Cedar Rapids has Duffy's. It's only 2 hours from Pella.

Man, that just reminds me how much I don't miss corporate life...

If they're all about that life, they're going to have trouble in today's environment. As they're about to find out with you.

Right on. IIRC that was one of my recommendations. Best of luck dude. I hope it works out well for you.

And when the hell is Iowa going to raise the 2 lane speed limit to 60 or 65. The time has come.

Hmm -- I think those are all 55mph. You may need to slow down, sir.

They're also phasing out the inheritance tax, so LoneWolf's sizeable bequest to Chiefsplanet will be fully realized and Kyle's loanshark will finally be paid off.

I really miss Kyle and am glad to see you're posting more.

As soon as I make up my mind, I plan on taking the offer to them and seeing if they will match it, but my hopes are not high that they will. I would be making more than my boss if they did that.

So is it Pella Rollscreen or Vermeer? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to say so publicly. ;)

Yeah, until it's actually done, I won't believe it.

Good jazz in DesMoines and Pella has that tulip festival every year that is quite impressive.

The tulip festival is fun exactly once. And if you have to live and work there, it can be a real pain. I mean it's just flowers, they're not THAT cool. ROFL

Oh for sure, if I still was around there, that's what I would do. We actually couldn't afford to live in Pella at the time so we lived in Knoxville. We made a lot of money letting people camp in our sizable yard during Sprint Car Nationals.

If I can be of any further service, let me know. If you're moving here, I want to make sure you enjoy it to the best of your abilities.

It's really not a bad place to live, I just have "winter" problems that are never going to be fixed until I move south. It's not Iowa so much as it's just too far north. FWIW, I wouldn't move to KC because it's still too cold there.
