It was classic. They were stating it as fact and basically said that anyone who thinks otherwise needs to deal with the reality of the situation. There is a ton of mutual respect between the programs.
The next time Texas looks out for anyone else's best interests will be the first time. I don't pretend to know what's going to happen, but common sense generally points you in the right direction. That's why I say that basketball has no seat at the table. Just looking at who has been courted makes that perfectly clear. The Big East clearly wants to be the center of the basketball universe, and it may work for them. That said, they grabbed TCU for a reason, and it wasn't roundball. They are in danger of losing automatic qualifier status if shit goes down, and even a basketball conference can't survive that. |

Are academics really that big of an issue with all of this, or is that just something tossed in there for "looks"?

When I am reading Big 10 football board, Iowa Hawkeye boards mainly, there is some B1G expansion talk going on. Most people actually do want Mizzou and KU to join the conference. They seem to think though that KC is entirely Nebraska fans,, like 70%+. WTF? I don't really see that many more Nebraska fans than even Iowa fans, and Nebraska has a much stronger following nationally I'm sure. If anything the KC area is:
35% KU 30% Mizzou 22% K-State 6% Nebraska 3% Iowa The rest random BS |

North and east KC is solidly Mizzou. Once you get to Lee's Summit, Liberty, Blue Springs, etc., its overwhelmingly Tiger country. |

*Rumor source #5: KC/KU media say MU doesn't want to go to the SEC. We'd rather go to the Big East with KU. They say we don't think the SEC is a good fit and like the idea of being able to win our conference regularly.
--------------------------------- actually i could see this happening, MU going to the Big East where they could dominate in football. In many ways MU would be a better fit for the Big East than KU. I mean KU goes into a bloodbath in basketball and a mediocre conference in football. KU ends up being just another team in BOTH sports. KU might be able to take another step in basketball but it would be tough as hell considering the competition. |

Chip Brown was just on 810, said that he has heard about every major conference in the country has contacted Mizzou.
SEC is going to 16 if the Big 12 falls apart. Also finally admitted that UT might have to give up Longhorn Network to land in a conference. Said UT's Plan A is to still keep the Big 12 together. |
