So I'm gonna call a shot here - Jalen McMillan out of Washington as a guy we trade up in the 2nd for. I think he'll eventually work his way into a lot of top 50 prospects lists.

Checks a lot of boxes. He's tall and has elite deep speed. He's been productive but he's the #2 WR on his team (Romeo Odunze is the #1) so he'll stay a little under the radar and it will keep him out of the 1st.

Imma say that he's our guy if he has the kind of platform season I expect him to have. The only thing that makes me question it is location - we really gonna take a WR from the Northwest? Then again, More was out of Western Michigan so their Southern Bias may not extend to WRs...

I'm gonna bump this one so I don't lose track of it.

McMillan got hurt fairly early on - probably going to return fairly soon. But he was as advertised early on in the season and that mid-season injury may help him slide.

Jalen would be an amazing complement to Rice.

Would love for Veach to add a burner with some size to play opposite Rice next year.

Rice's acceleration after the catch is quite impressive. And his ability to get open, even in the red zone, makes this such a great pick by Bert. I also like his personality. Kid is softspoken and humble.

Dude loves that back left-center part of the end zone

His 10 and 20 yd splits at the combine were in "elite" territory. His vertical was in the same category. Sometimes that testing stuff doesn't translate to the field of play, but with Rice, it actually does. You can really see the explosiveness.

yeah and you can also see his limitations with that 40 time. Not that I'm complaining, just saying he has elite burst and if he had that next gear he might have been a top ten pick.

You can see him get to that top speed so fast and then just kind of cruise there. He's a walking talking Relative Athletic Score

They interviewed him on 810 and he was talking about seeing an opening in the zone and "playing football" as he called it on the TD plays, but I took it as "playing football" means he adjusted the route to settle into the hole in the zone. IIRC he did the same for his first TD too. He sounded like an intelligent humble guy. I think we got a good one with this guy.

I just listened to this on my lunch break and I'm excited

So is the Veach can't find a WR through the draft narrative dead yet?

Sassy Squatch 10-24-2023 02:35 PM

No. Rice is obviously a RB, dumbass.

I'd agree with that. Nail in the coffin.

I think drafting wide receivers is just hard. The entire second round is full of misfires
