Damn I knew DC would lose but I was hoping against all reality he'd pull it off.

Glad Jones is back on top. He can take his rightful place as the best fighter in MMA away from that leprechaun piece of shit.

Did DC mention if he even remembered his actions after the fight? He seemed completely out of it.

Its going to be a light weekend, but there are fights tonight.
Thursday 8pm - (Sherdog.com) - Tachi Palace Fights 32 Judging by tapology, this looks slightly below average by local promotion standards. Saturday 7pm TV - (6pm Fightpass/7pm FS1) - UFC Fight Night Pettis vs. Moreno This is also a bit below average by UFC standards, but you are going to watch it anyway. Why? Because after this weekend, the UFC takes the entire rest of August off. Tuesday 7pm - (Fightpass) https://neulionmdnyc-a.akamaihd.net/...1/30199_ex.jpg |
I'm ashamed to say I'm recording a card with Sergio Pettis as the headliner.

For that much of a reach difference, Cormier would have had to either ground and pound it or just continue diving in even closer and more persistently than he did in the fight. Jones also kept tagging his lead leg to stop his advance. IMO, it was a boring fight because of how Jones fought it. |

If anyone out there with fightpass hasn't watched one of these yet and are wondering if any of them is worth your time, its this one. Week 5, watch this one. Skip the first ****ing fight unless you wanna see a sad heavyweight give up, but after that, man these were good fights.

In other news, Rose did a thing for Women's health that some say is NSFW. But is it really? If its really not safe for work, then it wouldn't be on newsstands.

I guess everyone is afraid of preseason football. I had to dig pretty deep.
There are a bunch of fights this weekend on Flocombat, but I'm not paying to watch B-league MMA outside of fightpass, and those idiots charge more than what Fightpass charges. ($150/year last I checked) Only reason I even have Fightpass is for early UFC prelims. Friday Night/Saturday Morning 2am - (Youtube) - Road FC Didn't look it up, because no way I'm watching C-league Korean MMA before dawn. Sunday 10pm - (Youtube) - Grachan 30 Based on tapology rankings, this is really bad even by local promotion standards. Tuesday 7pm - (Fightpass) https://neulionmdnyc-a.akamaihd.net/...1/30200_ex.jpg |
This is cool, during his workout Mayweather noticed Esther Lin was stuck near the back behind other photographers, so he stopped, walked up to her, and pulled her up to the front to shoot right in front of him.

We have 2 more weeks of nonsense left to deal with. Here's some fights to watch this weekend.
Friday 11am - (Youtube) Prime Selection 17 Based on tapology rankings, this is a terrible card even by local promotion standards. But its free, so whatever. 6pm - (Fightpass) Titan FC 45 Based on tapology rankings, this is about average by local promotion standards. Saturday 12:30 pm - (Fightpass) Polaris 5 This is a grappling event. Its judged grappling which isn't ideal, but whatever, grappling is cool. Sunday Morning 1:00 am - (Fightpass) Pancrase 289 This is about average and maybe slightly above average by local promotion standards, which is great for Pancrase since its a very low-level promotion, so if you want to see middle of the night MMA, this could be good. Tuesday 7pm - (Fightpass) https://neulionmdnyc-a.akamaihd.net/...1/30201_ex.jpg |

lol Jon Jones
Bellator returns on Friday. I think there may be some boxing event on Saturday. Here's the MMA schedule: Friday 7pm - (Fightpass) - Glory 44 This is your alternative to Bellator. Do you like kickboxing? Well, here you go then. 8pm - (Spike) - Bellator 182 Koreshkov vs. Njokuani Bellator scheduled this way in advance of the freakshow on Saturday, but once they saw what was going on this weekend, they dialed it back. No title fights, and this one is slightly below average by Bellator standards. Hardly anyone recognizable, they threw a lot of prospects and old vets from their roster onto this card. Saturday lol, not a goddamn thing, maybe you can find a local promotion somewhere, but no one noteworthy is counterprogramming the freakshow. Tuesday 7pm - (Fightpass) https://neulionmdnyc-a.akamaihd.net/...1/30202_ex.jpg This is the final week of DWTNCS, hopefully they bring it back later this year or next year. I assume this is ending because next week we'll have the new season of TUF on Wednesdays. |
Heads-up: the new season of TUF starts on wednesday evening.
|
The weekend starts early this week.
Thursday 8pm - (Fightpass) - Invicta FC 25 Two title fights tonight. Based on tapology rankings, this looks above average by Invicta standards. Saturday 10:30am - (Fightpass) - UFC Fight Night Volkov vs Struve This card is in Europe and only on Fightpass, not televised. The main event is really good, but there's not much else. This is a pretty bad UFC card overall. |

You probably wouldn't know this from the very little effort the UFC went to promoting it, but we have a PPV and two title fights this weekend.
Friday 5pm - (Fightpass) - TKO 40 Canadian promotion, and from tapology rankings this one looks pretty decent by local promotion standards with 6 regional top-10 fighters on the card. Saturday 7pm TV - (5:30pm Fightpass/7pm FS1/9pm PPV) - UFC 215, Johnson vs Borg Demetrious Johnson is going for the UFC title defense record against someone who, although is the #3 contender, no one really believes has a chance. After he has the record, Mighty Mouse should really think about moving to Bantamweight because he has crushed this division. DJ is a -1000 favorite. The most interesting fight of the night has to be the co-main, where the challenger is actually favored over the women's bantamweight champ. Nunes has been a decent champion, but in their first meeting Shevchenko was coming alive and looked like she'd win a 5-round fight, but she ran out of time in their 3-round fight and lost the decision. We also have RDA vs Neil Magny which is a cool fight, and the free undercard is pretty good. Casual fans are going to shun this PPV and watch some pretty compelling high-profile OOC college football games on the major network channels. This PPV probably won't sell worth a damn, which is a shame. |
I can't believe how little press the title record is getting.

Cowboy will headline next month in Poland.

Anyone watching 215? A couple of extremely dominant performances by Cejudo and RDA tonight.
RDA just cut through Neil Magny like a hot knife through butter. |
I must have watched a different Nunes vs Shevchenko fight than the judges.
I dont think there is any chance someone could convince me that Nunes won any of the middle rounds and even the 5th round takedown wasn't all that impressive to me because she didnt do a damn thing with it. |
Quote:
|
Shevchenko wasn't very impressive either, so I was indifferent on the decision. I think this is one of those things where if its close, the judges are just going to lean towards the champ.

The B sample for Jon Jones has come back hot and confirmed the test failure. He's facing up to 4 years suspension.

The CSAC has officially overturned the bout between DC and Jon Jones to a No Contest. Because of that, the UFC has reinstated DC as the UFC LHW Champion.
|
DC has been pretty lucky these past few years.
|
Oh well DC put the work in hope he is happy
|
The UFC is back on TV this weekend, but they are still holding back their best fighters until the college football OOC season is done.
Friday nothing Saturday 3pm - (Fightpass) - Cage Warriors 86 European promotion, this card is above average by local promotion standards. 7pm TV - (6:30pm Fightpass/7pm FS1) - UFC Fight Night Rockhold vs Branch Outside of the main event, there's really only 1 interesting fight. This card is filled with young prospects and older journeymen. |
Has DC made a statement? I imagine he can't be too happy to continue getting the belt in such a similar fashion.
|
Quote:
His initial reaction was (understandably) defensive, saying Jon Jones cheated, its like a NC from an illegal blow, of course the title should go back to him. After a bit later I think he was a bit more open and honest in regards to questions to whether the title should be vacant, saying he earns a lot more money as champion than he does without the belt, and so for his family, if the UFC is offering him back the title, he has to accept it. (My own opinion, if a championship bout is later declared a no contest for any reason, I believe the belt should always go back to the champion since the Athletic Commission is effectively saying that a legal, official title fight never occurred) More recently he's tried to be more magnanimous, saying to lay off Jon Jones, let the process play out, and he's just looking forward to his next fight. |
"Shogun" Rua is out of the main event this weekend, but good news: Okami is back!
He's gonna get ****ing wrecked because he's small even for a middleweight, but I assume the UFC is going to let him stay on in exchange for agreeing to take a last-minute beating in front of his own fans. Okami was a cool fighter to watch and a longtime gatekeeper in the MW division before the UFC cut him. |
I guess we got some fights in Alaska tonight. Those wacky Alaskans and their random Wednesday cards. This week the UFC has a rare Friday fight night, letting Bellator try to compete with college football.
Wednesday 11pm - (Fightpass) - AFC 133 This event is not listed at all on tapology or Sherdog. So, I assume this card is bad and the only thing going for it is there's literally nothing else anywhere in the world. Friday 7pm TV - (6:30 pm Fightpass/7pm FXX) - UFC Fight Night, OSP vs Okami This is bad by UFC standards. The main event was going to be cool but with the late replacement now it'll be a one-sided beatdown. Basically a few decent fighters from this side of the world, a couple legit asian fighters, and then the rest of the card is filled out with whatever they could scrape up from Asia. Saturday 8pm TV - (5:30 pm internet/8pm Spike) - Bellator 183, Henderson vs. Pitbull Bellator is usually somewhere between joke, freakshow, and/or filler but this card is one of the few times of the year where they seem to be trying to put together a real UFC-level fight card. Some of the best (or more popular, if not actually "good") fighters on their roster are on this one, its excellent by Bellator standards. |
One of the fights on the main card fell out because one of the japanese fighters showed up to the scale severely dehydrated and obviously in no shape to fight. (he still missed weight by 4 pounds)
There will likely be no fight pass prelim Friday.

Miss today's #UFCJapan weigh-ins? Not much going on this week.
Friday nothing Saturday noon - (Fightpass) - Glory 45 Its kickboxing, not a bad option if you aren't into college football. |
Pretty busy weekend
Friday 8pm - (Spike) - Bellator 184, Dantas vs. Cantwell So... when I saw that the main event didn't have any big names, I assumed this would be a random below-average Bellator card. Then I pulled up tapology, looked at rankings and records, and this is actually decent. This would be a bad UFC card, but by Bellator standards its actually pretty good. If you have nothing else to do, maybe you should tune in, this looks like an impressive little Bellator card. Saturday 7pm TV - (5:15 pm Fightpass/7pm FS1/9pm PPV) - UFC 217, Ferguson vs Lee This is a VERY good PPV. Its not going to sell worth a shit because this is a big college football weekend and the 2 title fights have no big famous names that were ever heard of among casual fans, but among hard-core fight fans there are A LOT of sweet fights to watch here. 4 out of the 5 fights on the PPV are great and interesting. All 4 of the FS1 prelims are good and important for their respective divisions, and the online fightpass prelims have a couple really cool fights. It is really a shame that this event will not get the respect it deserves, but I've arranged a little BBQ UFC party with family and friends for these fights, this is on paper going to be one of the best cool cage-fighting events this year that almost nobody outside of hard core UFC fans watch. Sunday midnight - (Fightpass) - Pancrase 290 It is what it is. There's not much talent here, and its in the middle of the night, but if you are awake, you may as well watch. To put into perspective just how terrible the talent is here, we do not have ANY of the top 25 Japanese fighters in ANY weight division on this card. These guys are all chasing a dream they will not attain. On the plus side, there's no delay for commercials, they shuttle fighters in and out of the cage really fast and the fight card has a ton of fights with no one you've heard of. noon - (Fightpass) - EFN 76 This card is weird. Most of this card is ****ing terrible even by local promotion standards, BUT the last 2 fights are actually interesting. There's a couple former UFC fighters trying to fight their way back into the show, but before the last two fights we've got a lot of random bums. |
Can't ****ing wait for 216. 4 of 5 fights on the main card are in the "can't miss" category for me.
|
I see that the UFC added some random W125 bout between 2 prospects I've never heard of before to the PPV. OK, fine its not replacing anything, we went from 12 bouts to 13.
|
Weigh-ins going on now, everyone on the main card has weighed in except Kevin Lee, who reportedly is facing a massive 19 lb weight cut. So the main event could be in trouble.
|
I will be buying it will post later.
|
Nik Lentz is out, he had medical issues with his weight cut and the bout is cancelled. We're only waiting on Kevin Lee now, he's the only fighter who has not yet weighed in with 15 minutes remaining.
|
Quote:
|
Kevin Lee weighed in at 156 and missed weight. The NAC then announced that they will give him another hour if a doctor examines him and approves the extra pound cut.
edit: I'm sure this will come as a shock to everyone, but the Nevada doctor has cleared Lee to cut one more pound |
Kevin Lee has weighed in at 154.5, so the main event is on for tomorrow night.
|
Furguson was already going to be the favorite, but now he's got to be the heavy favorite.
|
***Breaking***
Werdum vs Lewis is cancelled. Lewis was reportedly battling back issues all week and tried to fight through it, but they just now decided to pull the fight. The two title fights are still on. |
Walt Harris has been pulled up to the PPV to fight Werdum, lol. That is nuts, agreeing to fight Werdum on hours notice.
|
Any good fights on tonights card?
I am bored as hell and would consider buying it... |
Good ****ing lord. Please tell me someone saw that armbar by Mighty Mouse.

That finish was the craziest ninja shit I've ever seen. Mighty Mouse picked up Borg, threw him, and while Borg was falling Mighty Mouse caught the armbar in mid-air.
