That was the original starting lineup I wanted. Surprised it’s already so fluid.

Bidunga is athletic enough to defend the opposing 4, but big enough to play the 5 on offense.

Dickinson is a good enough passer to work with him and a respectable shooter to create spacing.

Yeah, they need to do a LOT of defensive drills in practice, some of these guys are lost out there.

It was pretty obvious down the stretch that Storr and Mayo will be great at that. Not sure why Mayo wasn't driving more. Still, he had a good game.

Storr finally showed how talented he is in offense down the stretch of this game. He needs to do a lot more of that. I think he's just struggling to adjust to playing for Self.

Glad to get the win, but this team won’t go far with HD, KJ, and Juan playing 30+ minutes.

But that’s a Storr issue, not a Self one. He’s gonna have to learn how to play under him.

Self has a reputation of playing “his guys” too much, but normally says more about the guys who aren’t playing.

I don’t see that issue lingering too much with how guys like Bidunga have looked.

Self eventually started Doke as a freshman. Same with Embiid.

Zach Clemence managed to miss two shots in less than two minutes this afternoon. Picked up right where he left off!

I hadn't read about UK doing a top-down rebuild with transfers (and looks like one freshman)... that's wild.

It's been awhile since he's had a bench this dep to work with. We'll see.

Bill Self has 591 wins at Kansas.

Zach Clemence has 83 points in 46 games at Kansas.

Clemence would need to play 329 games to score more points at Kansas than Self has currently won.

So, I am old, and I remember players lobbying Roy Williams to play Nash more because he was always great in the summer pickup games.

But, he sucked in actual games.

That is Clemence. A couple of my campus contacts said Clemence looked really good this summer, and maybe that is why he didn't actually enter the portal. Maybe Self thought he was making progress.

He sucks. He just really, really sucks. To be honest, maybe he could earn playing time at Emporia State, but I doubt it.

Clemence and Chenowith are the two worst players that I can ever remember getting actual playing time at KU.

Clemence is worse than all of these players and by a fairly wide margin. It's hard to fathom how he is still getting on court in an actual competitive game.

I would argue that he plays ok except his shots NEVER go in. Like ever. I still maintain Charlie "clank" Moore was worse than him at least while in a KU uni.

It’s still too early for major takeaways, and these numbers might be over indexed from one game (Hunter Dickinson’s UNC numbers likely hurt him here).

But it’s worth noting that Bidunga, Mayo, and Storr are all over KU’s most efficient trios.

It’s something we’ll keep track of moving forward.

KJ has been hurting the team on both ends of the floor so far.

If he can’t defend, he’s pretty worthless.

I guess he can handle the ball alright and dunk. That’s about it.

Weird how bad of a rebounder he is for being such a good athlete.

He didn't even really practice before the last game.

He must have nude pics of Self otherwise I don’t know why the dude is starting. He’s terrible. Can’t defend, can’t score, can’t rebound. Makes no sense lol.

The next game is midnight

Since it continues to come up it was something I was mindful of watching Tuesday. In a couple plays he just looks timid, like he's hesitant with his first reaction to the ball on a rebound and other players are much quicker picking up when and where there might be a rebound.
