It's ridiculous how much time ESPN spends on the WNBA relative to its fan base and revenue. Give me more NFL hot takes! And of course college women's is so much more watered down still. I get it if you live in a place like Iowa where the sports options are limited. The average attendance at a division 1 women's college game is just over 1,000.

It's not misogyny to recognize there's no comparison in athleticism and entertainment value, so unless you're friends and family, or live in a sports desert, or get off on at least having a team in your state being highly ranked at something, or have some political axe to grind, why would you watch? I don't know much about Clark (other than the pictures I looked up :D ). So I can't speak to that. I don't hate women's basketball. Much like I like college basketball more than NBA even though NBA is the pinnacle of the sport. I don't need the most talent to get enjoyment out of a ballgame.

A couple years ago my daughter did some kids cheerleading thing, and we were supposed to take her to the start of the girls game, so my wife gave me the details, and instructed me to get her there and she'd meet me. So I get to the gym and it's goddamned empty. She sent me to JV girls game which was before the varsity girls game which she was supposed to go to...

There was some bad basketball. For sure. But there were components that I still enjoyed. There were a couple of matchups and good performances in there that I really enjoyed.

I'm not one to shit on a game. Wnba is not for me but I dont resent anyone who enjoys it. But I do feel like one of the reasons it hasn't caught on is that they just play different. Shooting form, speed, etc... It's not like tennis or golf where swings are mostly the same. And I think that's why Caitlin Clark is such a phenomenon. She plays with a way more fluid and fast style than I think you're used to seeing from even the best wnba players

Yeah I think we're mostly on the same page. I think like the tennis swing Caitlins shot and style is way more similar to men's. Of course she doesn't have nearly the same size, speed or strength as men's but it at least looks similar. I've always found other pros to be a lot choppier and more like a flick shot. Which is why she just looks different.

But then add in that college bball adds an extra level for those who follow it. They may just follow the sport out of school or town spirit. I imagine her popularity drops off a cliff once she goes pro so if she's smart she'll stay in NIL as long as she can

The weirdest shit I remember was 6 on 6 basketball.

I've long argued that women's sports (age 18+, of course) like gymnastics, skiing, track and field (excluding shot put), swimming/diving, golf, tennis, and figure skating should be done nude in order to generate more fan interest. Like in the old-time days of the Olympics.

However I would definitely not make that argument for the WNBA. Because that would just be gross.
