This thread sure took a turn. I wonder if the players realize that routine tweets can literally cause grown adults to have mental breakdowns??

He should train with me! I'll beef up his little pansy ass!

This thread went from sexy GK talk, to

So Karlaftis is dating Gracie, who now fights in octagons?

I'm glad we got a mans man instead of an inbreeder!

Looks like he’s going lighter. Apparently his 2019 film at a lighter weight was better. I think people would agree if they compared the the different years of his tape

Oh great, lost weight now will get manhandled by tackles.

No way - he absolutely looked his best in 2019 and playing at 260ish could REALLY make him dynamic. I think that is an excellent development. I like what he did last year, don't get me wrong. But that would've left in in Tweener territory, IMO. He still wouldn't have been powerful enough to maul NFL tackles and he wouldn't have the bend required to finish some of these rushes off. A little leaner shouldn't cost him functional strength but may give him just enough burst and agility to help significantly w/ his pass rush. EDIT: Yeah - here it is: https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/show...&postcount=640 This is absolutely a good thing, IMO. |

People think just bc someone weighs more they automatically win. Brown Jr had roughly 70 lbs on Myles Garrett and we all saw how that turned out. The interesting thing is that Karlaftis is elite at 2 important things needed for pass rushers: his hands and lateral agility. Dudes hands are huge. 10.25 is likely in the 97th percentile and you can see that helping him with power when he plays. He has short arms but his hands have helped him a lot against longer armed tackles skmply bc they can’t win that power game against his hands. His 3 cone was 6.78 and that is…damn. That’s like 99th percentile for DE’s. To put that into perspective: Justin Houston-6.95 Dee Ford-7.07 Frank Clark-7.08 Tamba Hali-7.28 Jared Allen-7.11 Karlaftis at 6.78 is insane. Especially at 266 lbs. if you’re under 7 seconds as a DL for the 3 cone that’s damn good. If you’re under 6.8 seconds that’s a damn anomaly. It’s elite athleticism, which I’m guessing they saw in him. You see guys with elite lateral agility use it all the time. Von Miller and TJ Watt constantly use that speed to win. And Karlaftis has got it. I really don’t give a shit if Karlaftis plays in the 250’s as long as he’s adding muscle and losing bad fat. But take one picture of his pro day and you’ll see the guy shirtless running his 40…there is hardly any fat on the guy. Like he’s gotta be around 10% body fat |

It’s usually not talked about much outside of QB and WR, but there’s a reason they measure hand size for every position. With that said, between big hands or long arms, you take long arms. If George’s are short, that’s not ideal. |

This dude is in Texas working out with Pat and his trainer. Only defensive guy I've seen there this offseason.
And he was at Von Miler's pass rush camp or whatever. His work ethic is going to be the difference. |
This guy has Tamba Hali written all over him as a comp.

Guy is going to be a stud.

I stand by my belief that he might significantly benefit from an NFL weight training program, and I can't see how adding ten pounds of muscle could possibly hurt. But I recognize that every 10 pounds costs at least a tenth/second of speed. I just believe that his football IQ will compensate for that limitation. |
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Fun fact: <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Chiefs?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Chiefs</a> rookie DE George Karlaftis didn't link up with <a href="https://twitter.com/bobbystroupe?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@bobbystroupe</a> through Patrick Mahomes. It was actually at the recommendation of Karlaftis' college quarterback. I hurt just watching that.
|
Who's the dude ahead of Karlaftis and to his right? That guy's not nearly as flexible as George.
|
Man, barring injury, there's just about a 0% chance this guy busts.
This is how you stay on top: You draft plus athletes that flat outwork everyone else. |

It's not just Karlaftis either. It's a theme with this draft, and last year's. |

Karlaftis will have a more productive career than Thibodeaux. |
That would be pretty incredible. I really like Thibodeaux although his stick legs worry me

I think we need a list of guys DJ didn't bitch about. It would be light reading like that list of professional Jewish athletes on Airplane!

Mitch said Cullen is on GK's ass every damn day. Yelling, screaming, and all that. It's definitely a sign that Cullen knows what he's got in the player and sees that he can handle it, so he's coaching him hard.
Ya'll can believe what the scouts tell you to believe, but this cat is wired differently. He's going to be damn good. |
