Because of the weird schedule, I haven't watched any Sunday football for a while. It's all been streaming ESPN or NFLN. And on those streams, a lot of the commercials are replaced by a splash screen.

It is what it is at this point. There's no way it could be undone now. So it's kind of moot.

After sleeping on it, I would probably be more inclined to focus on the people who come into the Lounge and carp all over the place with DC stuff, than DC itself for now. Once again without digging deep into it, I would say that probably only involves 20 people, or less, likely closer to 10.

Yeah, we have other subforums but MC and Draft were created to save those discussions from being overwhelmed by the Lounge, as opposed to DC, which was created to keep those discussions from overwhelming the Lounge. :D

And while the problem now may be different in nature, there's no actual evidence to suggest that the former problem would have gone away without doing what we did.

Banning individuals from this site isn't easy - the tools available are ancient by networking standards and easy to circumvent. It's likely the mods would be playing whack-a-mole to this day.

As I said before, I don't think there's an easy answer.

The post below is from 2015 and it was apparently "a few years ago" at that point, mentioning Phobia... and it's posted in a thread where a poll was taken in DC and 70% voted against moderation in the forum.

Seems like the time frame is relevant when it was 8+ years ago and ~3+ years before the new team of mods was formed, much less the political climate and DC climate circa 2012.

Not that it really matters for the discussion, but for the record we float around 800-900 "active users" per day, who are people who have at least logged in (but don't necessarily post).

The Lounge cesspool is leaking into my rep, thanks to some noob named St Patty’s Fire who was likely still riding around in a car seat with his mommy when this forum was created.

It doesn’t really bother me obviously, because it’s low quality name calling, but we should all be clear that we have plenty of aggressive and uncivil posters on the Lounge side. The biggest difference is the thin skin some Lounge hotheads have.

Not surprised AustinChief didn't go for it, as he spews as much vitriol as anyone.

I can’t spend 24/7 thinking about the shit thats happening in this country right now; it’s draining, and tiresome. A place like this is supposed to be an escape from all that. And in the past, even though a lot of y’all are on the opposite end of the spectrum as I am, I’ve been able to completely avoid stuff like that for the most part, and just mingle as a fellow Chiefs fan. It’s getting harder and harder though, as I said, and it sucks because I truly love this forum, especially since I live on the east coast and don’t have any actual Chiefs fan friendship. Hell, I barely know anyone who watches any football, let alone to the level I do.

I know, different forums, different philosophies, different circumstances, etc. And I get that this is something that was borne a long time ago. But I think it may be time to come up with some sort of solution or compromise, because I know I’m not the only person who feels this way.

That’s just my two cents. I know I’m a relative n00b on this forum but like I said I love being here and hate wanting to distance myself. Trying to post in the Chiefs subreddit just depressed the **** out of me because this place is so much better, warts and all.
I'll never forget the day I discovered the DC forum on this site. I think I'd been posting here for a year at least. I was like - oh no, I'm going to get sucked into this aren't I?

I thank stevieray for winning the bet ban, which I welched on for a while - no excuses - but finally honored. My life has been much better w/o getting sucked into that vortex of shit.

Maybe you don't know suzzer's saga, but that's exactly what he did, went out and recruited people with no football interest and plenty of political passion to come here and do battle, and they're quite active to this moment.

I actually get along with ReeRun but I have no sympathy for what he did. I use to be in LE and we would always laugh at all the idiotic things people would do and get busted for. So admittedly I find it hard to empathize with certain people when they do really stupid things.

But overall I agree with your post.

I post both in DC and the lounge. When I post in the lounge, it’s generally about Colts related stuff that is already being discussed or non football topics.

I’m not seeing a compelling reason to do away with DCHL. And no, a few posters with the red ass is not a good reason.
