Brian Baldinger goes through the film and shows everyone some of the issues the Chiefs offense will present now with Sammy Watkins: http://www.nfl.com/videos/baldys-bre...fs-Film-Review
(You're gonna wanna watch this) |
Some people worried about his numbers last year forget he was traded DURING training camp to the Rams. WR is one of the hardest positions in the league to learn a new playbook and get on the same page with the QB.
He will have an entire off season to learn this offense and work with Mahomes. Barring injuries, this could be the first season since 2008 that 3 receivers go over 1000 yards on the same team. Watkins, Hill and Kelce. |

Looks like a bunch of knowmos in the comments section. Stupid ****s won't be laughing when this team is scoring 30 a game

I’ve saw so many comments that say Mahomes is a bad QB already, that those weapons are just pretty good players.. most people just don’t have a great understanding of player quality in the league. That, or they just tell them things that make it easier to sleep at night. |

I mean people are so out of touch. |
After watching Coach Reid's interview about playing to Sammy/Mahomes strengths, and seeing how they used him in Clemson, you're going to see a damn near college offense next year. Watkins thrived after YAC in Clemson which is Reid's favorite setup. People keep saying throw Watkins and Hill on go routes but I think you're going to see much more WR screens and quick passes as one simple mishap by a defender and Hill/Watson are dancing in the endzone. Very very excited to see this offense next year.

And with teams most likely respecting the deep ball and not putting 9 or even 10 defenders within 10 yards of the LOS like they did against Alex all the time...Man. We're gunna see our screens go for alot more yardage and big plays. |
Quote:
No more having to slow down or stop to rotate and make the catch. No more watching receivers having to jump a foot-plus in to the air just get the ball to graze their fingertips. And even with a less than perfect O-line, Hunt should have one outstanding season thanks to Mahomes legitimate deep ball threat. Can you imagine what Mahomes would accomplish with the Vermeil O-line? Scary. |

Chiefs Sign Sammy Watkins

So when do the religious chiefs fans start to demand to run him out of town?

I don't give a rats ass about any of these players as far as their personal beliefs go, I just want them to help the team WIN. That is what it is all about.

I don’t think Watkins will ever be asking the league to put “M.D.” on his jersey like Duvernay-Tardif anytime soon.....

Ahmen is a reference to God's name if you follow some extreme throw-back religion that traces back to Egypt. Mormons Jews and Christians all can trace back elements of their religion to this. For example, saying "Amen" at the end of prayers.
It's a black thing from what I can gather. At least he isn't a flat-Earther. https://player.fm/series/mentellect-...ue-name-of-god edit: to be clear this is what they believe, I'm not stating this as something I'm into. Someone might see that I live in California and assume that. |

Worst overpays
1. Sammy Watkins, Kansas City Chiefs Deal: Three years, $48 million The good news is that Watkins is young, talented and joining a team coached by Andy Reid, who excels at maximizing personnel. The bad news is that Watkins simply has not been very productive, a leading reason he is on his third team in eight months. The Chiefs are paying Watkins as though he's a sure bet. They were not the only team willing to spend big for him. Dallas was also interested, as was Chicago. It seems like a case of teams valuing a player based more on their draft reports than what the player has done since college. http://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/stor...worst-overpays |
We over paid bad and I don't like it. Skill players are a dime a dozen. They are not the part of the team that decides titles. I am happy to have him but that was a steep price for a guy thats on his third team. I will say this much, Goff and Tyrod are hardly good enough to use him to his ability. Hopefully Mahomes is.
|
If other teams were wanting to pay him a similar amount it would seem we didn’t overpay.
If nobody else was close, then we would have overpaid. |
Cant produce if they are not getting you the ball. He will be good here.

In the end, Veach knows Tyreek Hill, Pat Mahomes and Kareem Hunt are all on rookie contracts for the next 2 or more years so we could afford to do this. We’ll see how it goes |
Free agency = overpaying for players. Zero craps given. Deal will only look bad if he doesn’t produce.

This being said, if Watkins reaches his full potential the next few years he will be easily worth all that money. |

Over pay? Not over pay? Who gives a shit?? 3 things:
1) Did we overpay for him a little? Maybe. But if we didn't, someone else would have. 2) Bottom line. He makes the CHiefs offense better and more dynamic, giving Mahomes more of an opportunity to be immediately successful. That's a good thing. 3) They can easily afford to pay Watkins what they're paying him, due to having Mahomes, Hunt & Hill on rookie contracts. You take advantage of that while you can. That's what the Chiefs are doing. They essentially gave him a 2 year deal. They can get out of year 3 very easily with minimal cap impact. So, again, did they overpay a little? Probably. But who the **** cares? He makes the Chiefs better in the immediate, and if it doesn't work out, he's gone in 2 years anyway and his contract comes off the books. Also, it gives the CHiefs some flexibility to decide which receiver they wanna pay #1 money to in 2 years: Hill or Watkins? They both have a 2 year audition and then the CHiefs can make their decision. |
Nobody will care how the team pays players and/or allots its cap space if it results in playoff wins and a Super Bowl appearance within the next 3 years.
|
It's smart to give Mahomes every single weapon possible to find out if he's the guy or not. It's also insurance in case an issue with injury happens again, when Kelce went down in the playoff game due to a BS hit, you saw this offense struggle mightily.
|
On the bad side, Watkins deal set the floor for what you're gonna have to pay Hill if he keeps improving and putting up numbers like he is.
|
i dont give a **** if someone thinks we over paid him or not. Our offense is now on an elite level. We have playmakers at every position. If Fisher gets his head out of his ass and we find a lg we're set. Its not my money, why the **** do i care what Veatch does with Hunts money? Give me good players and that will entertan me
|
Salaries are going up year to year, as each new deal is signed.
What the Chiefs didn't or did ultimately pay Watkins wasn't going to set the floor for Hill. Another WR simply would have. |
Watkins contract is essentially a 2 year deal, in year 3 they can get out of it with some money saved
<iframe src="https://overthecap.com/contract-embed/2943/" width="600" height="290" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> My only concern is how much Tyreek Hill will need to keep him around. |
