No need. This game will do a huge number. That's all the NFL cares about.

True

I hate to say it - However, Carr does not look like a franchise QB (so far).

Apparently all quarterbacks who play in the NFL after, say, 1995 or so are absolutely prohibited from being in the GOAT discussion forevermore.

Ok. Thanks for your input. I'm sure you saw ALOT of Graham, STarr and Unitas play so you can give us real input on what the NFL was like back then, and how awesome those guys were.

(P.S. absolutely nobody calls Starr the GOAT, even guys that played in that era. Get a clue buckaroo)

Not one to say this sport is fixed - However; there is a mixture of favoritism and vague rules that make no common sense.

That is in fact not the rule. As a receiver, you only gain possession after completing teh catch. To complete the catch when you go to ground, you must "survive teh ground".

You can argue it's a crap rule. I won't even dispute it. But it is the rule and I think pretty clearly they got it right here. I admit my bias, but the ball was full on the ground -- his hands weren't under it or anything -- and he didn't have control so no catch, therefore no TD.

I can understand the saltiness of pro-Steelers / anti-Pats folks though -- that is a pretty tough loss to take.

No sane team would run a run play there. They called the correct play, but if it isn't wide open, Ben MUST throw it into the third row of the stands and then they kick the FG and go into overtime.

A run play is all-or-nothing. They had no timeouts left -- couldn't stop the clock for the FG if they get stuffed. That isn't terribly smart football.

The mistake here was on Ben, not the coaches. Terrible decision.

Seattle SB was on the coaches, IMHO, FWIW.

He wants his friend to fail? Then you don't understand the sport. You think Dungy wanted Marv Lewis to fail? BB wanted McDaniels to fail in Denver? That isn't how it works, generally. Absolutely everyone who has worked iwth BB has said very positive things about his mentoring them to move up to the next level, advice on how to succeed as a head coach and all that.

When Mangini went to the Jets, that annoyed Belichick. It was in the same division, and BB hates the Jets. Most of the time, however, BB does his best to support the people around him in moving up to the next level if he can.

Or at least, that's what all those people actually say about him (McDaniels, Crennel, O'Brien, etc.). Most haven't done terribly well, of course, at the NFL level, but Dimitroff/Pioli are doing very well in Atlanta, and what's-his-name seems to be doing ok in Detroit, so it's hardly all bad.

But regardless, it's not like Belichick intentionally launched a nuclear missile at the Chiefs. He didn't SEND Pioli there. JFC...

Of course he wants KC/ Pioli to fail. He's running another team.

I bet BB was laughing and giving high fives after he traded Casshole to KC. He probably couldn't believe how big of an idiot Pioli was for making the trade.

More like the mid-2000s, but otherwise, pretty much. It's just laughable to compare protected league darlings to guys who played when defenses were actually allowed to hit opposing players.

That was the correct ruling as far as what the NFL considers a catch. I think most will agree that the catch rules are a little silly, but that call was consistent with what has been considered a catch over the past few years.
