The Beaz!

Looks like a cross between Ben Wallace and "Fly" from the Car Wash movie with that 'fro.

Best player to grace the Big 12.

inasmuch as I doubt you've ever met the kid, you likely have no clue wtf you speak of.
Just because he's tatted up and made the mistake of letting a picture of some weed get out doesn't mean he's a bad kid.

Dante84 01-03-2010 11:54 AM

Yeah, he smokes weed a ****s chicks without using a rubber. Who hasn't done those things?

He is actually a really nice guy, and he's pretty funny too. I had the chance to party with him on more than one occasion (Before B-Ball season at state) and he was a cool dude. I thought he was a good recruit at the time. Little did I know.... $$$. I mean, I figured, but Jesus H. 2nd overall?

As far as locking up Frank "long term": That's nice and all, but he'll move when a better job comes open in the South. That's just life. And that's where Currie will earn his keep. By being nimble and proactive enough to keep things going after Frank leaves.

An annual contender isn't looking for a coach most of the time Dante. It's usually a university like KSU, just in a conference where there is more money and easier access to talent.

Hopefully he stays for 5 years. That's about all I wanted from Huggs. That should provide a pretty solid foundation for the next coach. And DH better pull another great player in next year. We're going to need one

Why are you so sure he's going to leave if he's offered? What's to say that we don't up his pay considerably & he's here for a long time? I don't think he's as ready to leave as you make it seem. Ever since he's been here, he's expressed nothing but gratitude & happiness toward K-State for giving him his break and by all accounts, he's a very loyal guy.

Maybe I'm too much of a homer, but if we can pay him like the coach he is (and I'm willing to bet Currie can find a way to do so), I think he'll be here for a long time.

BTW, FSMW sucks. I was all geared up to watch K-State basketball before the Chiefs game and can't even do that. Bastards.

Not sure how you could claim a fan of the consensus #1 team and top 3 program of all time is "insecure". I'm here for the hilarity.

well, given that the consensus #1 team in the country stomped a top-25 team into the dirt at their court last night, I'm thinking its just good old-fashioned smack-talk.

As a Jayhawk fan, I'm actually pretty happy that KSU is having a great year. Those two annual games have been getting really dull to the point where its hard to call it a rivalry any more. I dont think you can win in AFH, but that game at Manhatten is very losable for Kansas if KSU gets hot.

What? Wasn't Temple inspired to play above and beyond? You know.. everybody's A game and all? Oh wait... that's only when Kansas loses.

yeah, I've never liked that argument anyway. "Well yeah we are the big bad #1 team, we are everyone's super bowl, we take everyone's best shot, blah blah blah" as if that is supposed to excuse losing to a bad team when/if it happens. Now, basketball by its very chaotic nature is going to lead to everybody losing 2 or 3 games to a decent team that they shouldn't have lost to, and having maybe 1 close game against a very bad team, and thats all ok.

Everyone expects every great team to drop a few during the season, but if your team loses 6 or 7, or loses against a particularly bad team (I'm looking at you Texas, you got lucky yesterday), you might still be a good team, but thats a problem for a great team and this whole "we get everyone's best shot" argument is bullcrap. If your team is really, really good then you should win most of your games against halfway-decent teams, and you need to not only not lose, but also blow the hell out of almost all the bad teams.

KU and KSU have both been doing that this season, so these two (hopefully 3) games ought to be fun to watch.

WilliamTheIrish 01-03-2010 08:45 PM

Pretty much. I think we'll beat 'em (hell, I think we can beat just about any team in the country the way we're playing), but would feel a lot better about it if it wasn't the first game of Big 12 play.

I know quite a few 'Cat fans who are going, hopefully there's a better purple representation than there was last year. That game was brutal to be at....

Not a chance. A four loss UNC team will miraculously stay in the Top 10. Each loss can only bring them down one spot. Which means for them to fall out of the top 25 they need to be 11-19

K-State is number 10. UNC is number 9.

So, I say again.... a win at Mizzou, and we slide on up?

Dante84 01-12-2010 09:23 PM

That was nice. I liked the intensity for 80% of the game. The part where we let them get back to -12, not so much. In the post game, Frank said that during that stretch he sat on the bench and didn't make a sound because he wanted the guys on the floor to recognize the failures on their own and readjust without him telling them to do so.

He said, "How many of you guys heard me yelling in Columbia?" They all said they couldn't. He said, "Exactly. I want you guys overcome those stretches by yourselves, because there will be some road games where you will need to do so."

We haven't had a coach like him in years. I like the way these guys are gellin'. Let's hope it's not a fluke! I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop, like it always does for us State crowd, but right now, I think we are doing damn fine.

Also, I like our chances next Monday. Have we ever beat a number 1?

WilliamTheIrish 01-12-2010 10:20 PM

Was good to see George Brett in the Octagon tonight. Also good to see DC light. it. up. in the first half. aTm had no answer for him.

As usual CoMohawk was correct: "Your bigs were exposed":

FG: 14/23
RB's 33
PT's: 43

Yup. Exposed.

WilliamTheIrish 01-12-2010 10:22 PM

It was also nice to see Frank put another big hurt on the Turd. Just a complete beatdown. Turd needs to do something with that little skunk stripe in his hair. What an ugly ****.

WilliamTheIrish 01-12-2010 10:29 PM

Buffs knocked off Baylor tonight.

black angus 01-12-2010 11:48 PM

Yep, buffs are still undefeated at home, knocking off Baylor 79-71.
Telling stat of the game- Baylor 18 turnovers, CU 5.

Dante84 01-12-2010 11:52 PM

There was a stat tonight, not sure if it is correct or not, but they said that the Big 12 has lost only one home game this year so far. That is ridiculous.

Correct, Big 12 home team records are 114-1 for the season.
Only Iowa State has a home loss, that being to Northern Iowa.
